Vent? Oh yes, yes it is. They showed a report from my Washington, DC these weekends and for some reason that made me feel so nostalgic and sad. I couldn't help but draw my yankee Wilhelm on a morning jog past the monuments. It is one of my most sacred dreams - to wake up and to run on the bank of the Potomac river every day in summer. At least Wilh can definitely do so.
Guys, if you tell me I'm weird then you're totally right. I swear when I was drawing this I listened to the songs I played back in the States and I almost cried. You people of the internet are in love with other people, while I'm in love with places I've been to. I don't even know what's better now.
Damn it, I'm so repetitive. I'm sorry...

The skies were inspired by those beautiful sunset skies I've seen in Chantilly, Virginia in May 2017. Though Wilh is on his jog in the morning, I still took inspiration from my own photo when I drew the background. Just a fact: Wilh runs in DC city centre almost every day in the morning just to keep fit.
You people thought I'll draw my German horses forever?

Aww! Why does this make me feel so peaceful? I don't know, but it's beautiful :'3 Man, I can imagine how relaxing it could be to take a jog early in the morning, with such a beautiful sky and no one around, running past the wonderful monument area
I'm sorry that report on Washington made you nostalgic, my friend, but it's astonishing it pushed you to draw something so beautiful: Wilh's pose and expression look so free, and his mane is perfect. Like, the messy kind of perfect XD (Still, how does he do that in the morning? My hair is usually just messy, without perfect XD). And that sky, wow... you may have had a mental reference from the one you saw, but you nailed all the colors and it wasn't that easy ^^ For some reason I also really like the two types of shading: the cell one (like on his mane, hoof and neck), and the soft one (like the highlight on his muzzle, or on on the Obelisc). Great job, Marie!

Yeah! For some reason, they include that in lots of movies that take place in DC, and I can see why - this whole concept is just too awesome. Running down peacefully in the beautiful colors of sunrise where history was once made... aaah.
This child yells every time she sees DC in news, so don't worry. I'm good after couple days. I am one of those few artists who make vent art this way, drawing my horses being happy xD
(He is a magical horse, my dude! Everything about Wilh has to be perfect. Though his mane probably got untangled in the wind, he didn't even brush it xD)
Ah the colors. They are what making this piece work together as a Washington piece. I swear the sky is so beautiful in Virginia, always calm and relaxed... D,:

My theory is that since Wilhelm is inspired by DC, he is descended from Washington's family. Not George Washington himself of course (I believe he couldn't have children), but still. So...
