Description
Linebeck is one of the only saving graces this game has. Otherwise, this game would be entirely forgettable. I've probably said before that this game would've been way better off if Link and Linebeck were in the Zelda equivalent of a buddy cop film. This has nothing to do with the stylus controls or the graphics, this game plays and looks fine to me. It's the game design that's posing to be such a problem. Specifically, this game is way to easy even for a Zelda game. There was never a point where i felt challenged, there wasn't an enemy i couldn't deal with. It feels like a really long demo.
I wish there was more to say, the biggest problem with this game is really, really bland. Every other issue i have is my own personal problem, such as there being a human mailman with wings and not a Rito. Where's Medli?
This image will basically be the format of every single game i'll talk about. Gradually, there will be more effort in the art. Marii will always have some comic about the game.
The CDI games won't be on the list.
I definitely want your opinions.

I'm a huge fan of the DS games (though Spirit Tracks is much higher than Phantom Hourglass in my personal ranking). I'm one of those weirdoes who actually like the Ocean King Temple (yes, we do exist!), I rather like the plot and the "Bermuda Triangle" vibe, and of course, I love characters like Linebeck or Ciela.
What I don't like:
- The beginning : why do they have to explain what happened in Wind Waker with this long kamishibai scene? Does Majora's Mask begin with an Ocarina of Time digest? No! The only relevant informations here are 1) Tetra is actually Princess Zelda, her blood is magic and this is why every villain wants to capture her ; 2) Link travels with her since a previous adventure. Thoses informations are repeted two seconds later within three lines of dialogue. Then, what's the point of the kamishibai? It's useless!
- Tetra. She was so cool in the previous game. Here, all of her badassery is sucked away from her. First, the kamishibai does not only summs up Wind Waker uselessly, but it does it poorly : according to it, Link did everything by himself and Tetra just waited for him to save her and do all the work. That's not what happened! She did help him and even took part in the final battle, why is she denied the recognition she deserves? And the rest of the game confirms she's now the typic damsel in distress : she shows off and brags about how she's not afraid of the Ghost Ship, but is kidnapped one minute later. Then, she just cries for Link's help, then she's a stone statue, and even when she's back in flesh and bones, she's kidnapped again and conveniently faints before the final battle. I know the purpose is giving Linebeck his time to shine, but being unable to do it without having another character regress is just bad writing. Tetra's still one of my favoutite incarnations of Zelda, but this game really takes her down.
- Music. Ok, there are good soundtracks, but this game could have had so much better. The DS can't be blamed, Minish Cap does have better music. I'm not talking about sound quality, but about the repertoire. Especially the dungeon music. Yes, "music", without "s", singular. Last time we had only one track for all the dungeons in a Zelda game was...um...well...never. The first NES game has at least two tracks. Music is important, it contributes to the dungeon's atmosphere and helps making it feel different to other dungeons'. If only this music was good, but it isn't, it's one of the worst of the entire franchise, and it's boring and despressing. Some people compare it to the cave music from A Link To The Past, and yes, it would fit as a cave music (though the cave music from ALTTP is still better).
-Fishing. I've always hated fishing mini-games, but this one put it up to eleven. Curse you, Neptoona! (but retrospectively, a funny thing is that the Rusty Swordfish looks like Prince Sidon...)
And I don't mind the winged postman, it is so stupid it becomes hilarious.

I'm agreeing with you here, so, SO much...I still like some elements of PH, but it is in fact, a quite forgettable entry, I hated the repeat visits to the Ocean King, though in my personal case, as I am in fact, a weenie, it just sent my anxiety up a wall over having repeatedly to avoid my Sand of Hours running out and avoid getting 1 hit KOs from Phantoms that make my screen turn red with a screaming text box, it's all terrible for the anxiety rather than make me frustrated/angry.
I kinda see the game as fairly interesting design-wise, even if it was easy, they made some very interesting mechanics with the boss battles/puzzles(though the Courage sea chart sticker puzzle forever makes me ticked, a friend was the one who told me how to do it)...though yes, as you pointed out, quite simple. I suppose it works as a decent STARTER entry to the series for fans who are very young and don't want a too hard of a game, bc ultimately, the target demographic IS children, so making it notoriously difficult kinda would hurt...I am only forgiving this entry due to being obviously, IMO at least, an experimental game to see how future LoZ entries on the DS era would do, as apparently later DS Zelda games came out way better.
I never liked the postman, I still kinda am salty he came back, just as a choo-choo dude for Spirit Tracks...so I don't blame you being salty there either LOL.
Linebeck was in fact one of the better things we got out of the game, but yeah, PH was largely...lackluster and it REALLY doesn't help how the world explored was very, very largely handwaved the way it was at the end. I personally loved Ciela, if only bc she was really involved with the story but didn't overtake it for a companion, but otherwise...the game is definitely one of my least favorite entries in the franchise, and that's considering I hardly have problems with any of the games. (I don't count CDi bc technically they're non-canon/Nintendo called it quits early in development.)

I pass the game like 3 times and the difficulty is more annoying than challenging, (especially because you have to complete that temple like 5 times in the game, repeating the same rooms and puzzles) the rest of the dungeons were for me entertaining more than everything else
But i love Linebeck that for sure and the other fairies (i wish they could have more relevance in the game)
Sadly In the end there is not much to highlight from game
