Description
A day like this, is one that you just can’t predict. And for Marina, she wouldn’t of guessed it to happen in all her life. The day was quickly turning into a chilly starry night. The wind blew hard its icy breath at anyone unprepared. But nothing prepared her for this…
This happened when she was just three years of age, 17 years ago in human terms. Now she went around and learned to survive on her own without any elf. She did enjoy the solitude, but she did wish she could talk to someone who could talk back every once in a blue moon. Walking and humming along, she drowned out her wishes of making a friend that was not animal. “I love all my animal friends, but they just can’t talk back. I wish I had at least one true friend that accepted me for me.” She thought to herself as a small tear slipped from within her eyes. And as she thought, she was quickly brought out of her saddening thoughts as she slipped on something black, thick, and super slippery. “Eeww. Gross. Oh My GoblinShark, What is this?” she questioned as she tried getting up. Flailing around, she stood up and slipped down the hill, losing her backpack up on top. “Well, that was… fun, but now I’m off track. I have to get home before it gets any darker.” She stated as she looked at the darkening sky. Getting up was completely impossible being covered in oil. She started to panic when being covered in the oil, her water bending powers were on hold. She tried with all her might to get a stream of water out of her hand, but the oil had other plans. ~Creeeeeck, snap!~ “Oh barnacles!” Marina cried in horror as she saw a big tree branch roll down its trunk and somehow gently rolled on top of her, pinning her legs and her left arm. “Nothing feels broken, but I got to get out of here!” Marina stated relieved but still quite scared. Her water skills couldn’t get her out of this slippery, slimy, mess. And the branch was so heavy, the slick oil didn’t work.
“Hey, Alex. How’s it going over there?” called out a man from behind the door. “We’re all good here! She’s all tuned up and ready to go!” replied Alex as he stepped away from the Indian motorcycle and took off his belt of tools. “Great! That was your last one for the day, so you can call it a night. See ya tomorrow!” responded the boss. “Thanks! See you at 9!” the brown haired man called back as he wiped his hands the best he could without water and headed for the parking lot. Starting up the engine of his Harley Davidson, he slipped the sleeves off of the dirty mechanic suit and tied them around his waist. Then putting his brown leather jacket on over his red undershirt, he zipped it up and headed out to home. Thinking of how nice a hot shower and going to bed would be, he was just happy to be going home after a hard day’s work, as always. Then something got him out of his thoughts and turned off the road and onto the side. Walking over the object, he thought about his way home. He did enjoy having quite a scenic route to there and back. Nothing but woods. Bending down to collect the object, he noticed it was a small tan backpack in a sea of green grass. It looked like it belonged to a doll. Placing it into his suit pocket, he stood up and wondered what it was doing there but then quickly shrugged it off. Hearing some strange noises and coughing catch his ear, he scanned the woods to see where it was coming from. Looking further down the small bank, he noticed her. ~snap!~ a twig cried from under his weight.
Gasping, Marina turned her head to the creation of the noise and saw something she never wanted to see. A human staring at her. As her blue eyes met with him, her elf ears bent down and she stopped struggling to get out and froze in fear. Seeing her dilemma, he slowly walked down and crouched down right in front of her. “Hi.” He whispered to her, trying not to frighten her even more. Looking down at her tiny frame, he could see that she was breathing hard and probably freezing and hungry. Looking up and up to reach his face, her chest heaved up and down, her skin freezing with the dropping temperature, and with absolutely no food left in the tank, it made her feel terrible and almost sick to her stomach. Then a huge drop of the black goop rolled down over her face. Using the only limb she had available, she tried to regain her vision. “Here, let me help.” Alex said softly noticing the troublesome oil on her face. Reaching out his hand, he carefully took his index to cradle the back of her head as he used his thumb and gently wiped off enough oil so she could use her eyes again. She gasped and coughed at his contact, ears still pointing down like a wet cat. Using her blue eyes again, filling with fear and yet, a confused spark danced in them as she looked at the overwhelming giant creature hovering above her. “Better?” he asked as he wiped his oily fingers on the back of his dirty workpants. Shaking her head slightly up and down was her only response.
“Now let’s get you out from under that branch, shall we?” He asked as he slowly reached his hand back out to grab the branch. Watching his hand coming at her made her extremely uneasy as she watched it like a hawk. Wrapping his fingers around the branch, the heavy branch released its weight on her limbs. Once moving them was possible, she recoiled them to their base. A sigh of relief escaped his lips, now knowing that nothing seemed to be broken from her movement, but still sadden him to see her fear of him. But he couldn’t blame her for that. Eyes not leaving his frame, she saw him gently place the wood down a couple of yards away from her. Well, to her it was. Trying to get up with all of what little strength she had left in the tank, she didn’t get anywhere. She looked like a fish out of water, not even able to stand up. “It’s okay. I’m just going to help you out. I promise I won’t hurt you.” He stated softly as he reached down to pick her up. Watching his hands fence her in, she was so horrified, her voice ran and hid. It left and abandoned her. All she did was gasp and cough as the cold chilly air stole her voice. Moving his hands in to scoop her up was hard due to his heart breaking for her. He felt terrible for doing this, but this was the only way. She was vulnerable out here like this. Every animal is, when covered in oil. As the wall of flesh slowly moved in, she felt helpless as his thick digits curled around her and lifted her clear off the ground. She swallowed hard as she now was no longer touching the ground. Rising higher and higher, she felt him stand up to his full height and started to walk over to his bike.
The rough wind breathed hard on Marina, causing her to curl up into a tight oily ball and shiver. Sneezing completed her shiver. Noticing the chilly air and how cold she was, he cupped her to where the air would hopefully not reach her shaky frame. “I’m sorry, you’re not going to be a big fan for this. But it will keep you warm.” He stated sadly as he looked at her fearful bright eyes and tilted his hand. Gasping with wide eyes, she started to slide and descended down into a side pocket of his jacket. Plopping down to the bottom with a light bounce, she uncoiled from her fall and looked around with panic steaming off her slimy body. It was dark and there was no way out. Looking at him with panic in her eyes and gasping for air as if a cluster phobic, made his heart ache a whole lot more severe. Swallowing the pain and lump in his throat, he zipped the pocket most of the way so she was safe from the bitter cold wind and during the ride to his apartment. Watching as the darkness grew thicker and thicker, she squirmed with the movement and the uneasy feeling growing in her gut. Climbing back onto his motorcycle as gently as possible for his tiny passenger, he revved the engine and headed off to home. This was the first ride ever on his bike that he didn’t really enjoy overly and it felt weird and unnatural. For the first time, he just wanted to get off his bike and get home. Marina squirmed and floundered a little, not a fan of this at all. She heard the loud humming of the engine and felt him within the other side of the jacket. “This can’t be good at all…” Marina coughed.
Parking the bike into his usual spot in the small alleyway in the back of the apartment, he gently got off and entered the building. “Hey, Alex! How’s work?” asked the man at the lobby counter. “Great! Couldn’t be better.” He replied quickly as he entered the stairs and started his climb. Three flights of stairs to get to his very welcoming door. Slipping his key into the door, he unlocked this apartment and quickly entered, shutting it behind him. Heading over to the kitchen, he cradled the bottom of his pocket as he slowly unzipped the pocket holding his tiny guest. Looking down, he saw her bright blue eyes adjust as the light pierced through the dark folds within. Her blackened oily hands flew up trying to protect them as they adjusted. Swallowing hard again, he descended his hand slowly to fetch her out. With a small scream, she found her voice, but it didn’t help much. As his hand wrapped around her, her coughed scream was muffled through his thick layers of muscle and warm flesh. “This feels so strange.” He thought as he felt her fight within his grasp. “I can feel her move around and everything!” Raising his hand closer to his face, he opened his hand up to see the tiny girl sprawled out in his palm. Walking over to the sink, he looked at her ruffled oily black hair and grimy features. She looked like she could belong to one of those slime creatures that lived in Black Lagoon or something.
Turning on the waterfall, she awed at the sight of water. Clean, fresh water. She then was moved closer to the running water. Slipping his hand under the faucet, he gently rubbed at her frame to get the oil off. There was no way she would be able to get the oil off without help. Feeling his leathery skin and muscles moving around all over her as she was soaked to the bone with the warm water, to say it was weird was an understatement. The warmth felt good but the rubbing made it less relaxing and comforting. This gigantic male was washing her off! The oil washed off her body and disappeared forever down the drain. Shutting the water off, he retracted his hand to head over to the table. Coughing from all the water, she felt herself being weighed down into his hand with all the water she soaked up. Looking down at her now clean and wet form, he was stunned at her new look. Her hair wasn’t black. It was a golden caramel color. It was very pretty in his opinion. Better than the black. Her hair lengthened down to her lower back due to the water detangling it. Her frame was petite and cute, not thicker as it appeared with the oil clinging onto her. The only thing that remained the same, were her very expressive bright blue eyes. Picking up a hand towel, he placed her in and started to gently rub her dry. The soft clean fabric encompassed her and pressed gently, wicking the water away. Opening up the towel, he gently placed the two onto the kitchen table. Sitting up and poking her head out of the towel, Marina looked up at him as he walked away to grab a glass and filled it with the faucet.
For some odd reason, he didn’t want to make a bad impression on her by pulling out a drink. Granted, he drank an Ale about every other day-ish, but still, he couldn’t do that to her; he just found her about thirty minutes ago! Looking around, she smiled as she saw a nice kitchen that reminded her of an older kitchen. She was into older looking stuff more than modern stuff; it always made her feel a bit overwhelmed with all that new stuff. Pulling a chair out so he could sit, he sat down and placed his cup of water down to look at his find. Twitching her pointy ears and turning her head at the source of the sound got her out of her happy thoughts about the kitchen as she looked up at this human being staring at her. “What’s your name?” he asked softly as he crossed his arms and placed his head on top so she didn’t have to look so strained on her neck to look up at him. “Marina. Yours?” She answered him a little shaky but gaining some of her usual courage in her voice. She was usually a very chipper and outgoing type, but right now, not so much. With a smile escaping his lips he said, “My name’s Alex… Marina. That’s pretty.” Hearing that, her face ran hot and filled with color. He liked the way her name sounded off his tongue and it made him feel warm saying it. A deep thundering sound came up and filled her ears. Now he blushed and got up from his position. “Sorry ‘bout that. I still have to eat my supper. Are you hungry, Marina?” he asked as he stood up. He figured she didn’t eat in a while, making that one of the reasons she was not her strongest state. He smiled when she replied with a yes and a polite thank-you. “Ok, I’ll be back with some food then.” He said as he turned around and opened up the fridge. Still thinking about how he liked saying her name, he pulled out lunch meat and cheese and some bottles.
Pulling out the bread and making the sandwich, he somehow felt her tiny stare all over him. She was curious of what he was doing and it made him feel embarrassingly warm for some odd reason. Coming back to the table she watched him place the paper plate down with food on it. There was a huge gigantic piece and a way smaller piece. He then picked up the big piece and slowly slid the plate closer to her location. Looking at it, she smelled the different smells that wafted up to her nose and it didn’t smell too horrible. Looking up at him, he replied “It’s a sandwich, Marina. You can eat it.” As he took another bite of his own. “A sand what? Never heard of it.” She cocked her head with curiosity at his words. With a light laugh, he replied “It’s good. Try it.” With a deep sigh, she placed her hand on the food and picked it up, trying to mimic him with how he held it. Sinking her teeth in, she was surprised that it did taste good. Her ears then perked up almost like a surprised deer, causing him to try to hide his chuckle behind his sandwich. Getting another bite, Alex smiled and was glad to see that she was eating. It was a good sign. She was going to have to stay for a little while to regain her strength. It saddened him that he had to hold her here against her will until he felt like she was back to her normal healthy, self. But he had to, for her well-being. “It’s good!” She said as she finished up her sandwich piece. With a light chuckle, he responded, “Told ya.” Marina then lightly laughed, revealing her first smile with him. It was weak, but Alex still quite enjoyed it. Standing back up, he grabbed the empty paper plate and placed it into a recycling bin.
Turning around to see his tiny guest, he noticed her yawning. His small smile widened into a grin as he went to reach for his glass of water. Due to looking at her and not the glass, he misjudged it and nudged it, tipping it over. Horrified, Alex gasped watching it tip. Marina then saw the tipping glass and gasped as her reflexes went into action. Using her water abilities, she used it to upright the glass and filled it back up, making it not spill a single drop. Watching that made his jaw drop down to the floor. It was like watching it rewind right before his eyes. “Wow.” He breathed lightly, still in slight shock. Noticing that he saw that made her ears point down again in slight fear of his reaction of realizing her ability. She got kicked out of her village when they found out about it and who knows what would happen if a human found out. And one just did. “You can do that?” he asked as he sat down again on the chair. Shaking her head yes, she awaited his answer. Noticing the troubled look on her face, he responded, “It’s okay. That was actually really cool. I wish I could do that.” Sighing, she then cocked her head at him. “Really?” she quietly asked as she was relieved he was okay with it and sat back down Indian style. “Yeah. It would be fun to be able to do that.” Alex replied with a chuckle as he thought of a few things of what he would do with it. Getting out of his thoughts, a smile curved the edge of his lips as he saw her yawn again. Looking down at his watch wrapped around his wrist, he read 10:47. “Wow, no wonder you’re tired. It’s getting late.” He said as he looked down at her as she yawned again.
She started to nod off as she sat there, tried with every ounce of her body to stay awake. Her body told her to not fall asleep with a human around, but everything else told her otherwise; hence the battle within. With a chuckle and a grin, he said, “Okay, let’s get you to bed.” “whaaa..?” Marina sleepily asked but then was cut off as she felt his index finger touch her back and his thumb swing around and gently press against her stomach. Lifting her up, he moved his other hand up underneath her and set her down on his palm, heading down to his bedroom. Feeling the warmth that radiated off his hand was soothing and actually made her lay down, consuming the warmth. She didn’t realize how cold she really was until now. Drifting off, she fell into a light sleep. He then looked down and noticed her curled up in his palm and sleeping. He swore he could see a calmed relaxing smile on her face. This warmed him more than ever before. He then placed her gently down onto his pillow and left to change in his bathroom. Quickly showering, he now felt the sleep starting to claim him as well as he got ready for bed. Now clean and ready for sleep, he picked up his folded up uniform and boots and placed it by his bed. With only the nightstand’s lamp on, he carefully entered his covers and looked down at his sleeping visitor. Noticing her slightly shiver with his warm hand gone, he then without thinking, ever so carefully picked her up and held her a little more. Her sleeping frame welcomed the warmth, making her slightly smile as she shifted deeper in his warm palm. He smiled as she nuzzled in. He then began to study and drink in her features, now up close. Her skin was surprisingly soft and her hair was silky. Her little pointy ears twitched here and there, which was really cute. He smiled sleepily as he gently swiped some hair out of her face, feeling one of her tiny ears in the process. He wished he could see her eyes one more time before, he too, yawned and started to grow even sleepier as his eyelids grew heavier. Alex then slid down into a laying down position and placed her down onto his chest. He figured that since he didn’t really wore shirts to bed, she would still get the warmth she was enjoying in her sleep and he didn’t really move at night so she was safe there. “I’ll have to figure out something for ya tomorrow, Marina.” He thought as he gently placed his hand on her like a blanket and soon drifted off to sleep with her on his mind.
(Yeay! Chapter 1 is finally out! XD Hope ya'll enjoy! Hope ya'll have a blessed day and a magical week!)
