Description
The next morning, Derek woke up and noticed that Emily was still sleeping, but was still quite cool in temperature. He then decided to help that out a little by carefully picking her up, trying really hard not to wake her up, and placed her on his chest. He then placed his hand on her like a blanket. Looking at her was still quite interesting for him. This tiny little girl was snuggled up, sleeping on him quite intently. He could sworn he even saw a slight smile come off her small face. Resting his head back down, Dereck stared at his ceiling in trying to gather as much information as he could about how he can help her with that badly bruised back. Slightly stirring, Emily placed her hands down and tried to lift herself up. But strangely, she couldn’t. Looking around for what was weighing her down, she saw the giant’s hand gently placed over her legs.
Trying to lift herself out of its weight again, she then felt that funny feeling again. She felt the rhythmic hot breath consume her body and the sensation of going up and down. Twisting her head back around, she saw his huge eyes meet up with hers. Giving her a light smile, Derek asked, “Did you sleep okay? I hope I didn’t wake you.” Hearing these words snapped her out of her trance. “No, I slept fine, thanks.” She said as she looked around her surroundings. “H-how did I get up here?” she asked a bit shaky as she crossed her arms and used them to support herself for stability. “Oh! Oops.” He replied as he slowly but quickly took his hand off her. He didn’t want to make any sudden movement to scare her.
“There. I’m sorry. I woke up and felt that you were still a little cold, so I tried to help.” Derek said with a sheepish smile as he rubbed the back of his neck of embarrassment. Sitting up, Emily lightly giggled at him for being embarrassed over that. Seeing her laugh at him, even if it was small, warmed him from the inside. Then all of a sudden, Emily’s stomach started to growl. She then tried to silence it with her hands as she pressed down on her stomach. Then her surface started to jolt. With a light laugh, he slightly jostled her. “Would you like some breakfast, Emily?” he asked as his laugh slowed down. Gaining her balance again, he then took his hand and placed it down on his chest for her to get on. “What?! You’re not going to grab me?” Emily asked confused. “Well, for one, your back is probably really sensitive from the bruise and two, I shouldn’t just grab at you…” He said with a light smile.
Taking a deep breath, Emily then stood up slowly and stepped onto his gigantic hand. Sitting down on his palm, Derek then stood up and headed over to the small kitchen. Well it was small for him, anyway. Looking down at her every few steps to make sure she was ok, he noticed that she took her arms and wrapped it around his middle finger. She was using it as a stability and safety precaution. He then placed his hand down onto the dining table and slightly tilting his hand, making her slowly slide her legs onto the table. Letting go, he took away his hand and headed off to find something for them both to eat.
Looking around, she noticed that the kitchen was quite similar to hers, but green, and well, bigger. He then came back and placed a big plate of food down. Well, it was really big to her. “Eat whatever you like. There is plenty to go around.” He simply said as he sat down at the table and grabbed a few pieces of pancake and a couple of strips of bacon from the plate. Emily smelled the sweet aroma as her mouth watered. She edged up to the hot food and sat down. She then grabbed a piece of a pancake and pulled it off. Eating was quite quiet for a little as they ate.
Emily, now full, she stood up and walked a little away from the food and to get a better view of this being. He then got up when he was done and grabbed the plates to clear off the table. “Is your favorite color green?” Emily asked randomly with a light giggle. “Why yes. I guess it is quite obvious…” he stated as he placed the dishes into the sink. “What’s yours then?” he asked as he sat back down at the table to keep up the conversation. She never started a conversation with him before and he enjoyed every moment. “Blue!” she replied with such happiness. “But I do like all the colors though too, but blue!” she said with a smile.
“I guess that’s why your dress is blue?” he asked as he crossed his arms and rested his head on them for better eye level of her. “Yes… I know” she said as her tiny cheeks filled with color. After talking for a little bit, Derek then said, “Ok, we can’t just stay here all day. He then placed his hand down as she cautiously climbed aboard. “May I check your back, if it is okay with you of course...”He asked as he placed her down on the bathroom counter. “How?” she asked as she stared at him through the oversized mirror in front of her. Pondering that question, Emily then saw the lightbulb turned on in his head as he left the room and grabbed something green.
“Here, you can cover with this.” He said as he placed a hand towel down next to her. “Sorry, I can’t think of any other way.” He said as he left the bathroom for privacy. Emily then took a deep breath and did what she was asked. She quickly got out of her dress and wrapped up in the green hand towel. Then all of a sudden, some knocks came from the door, startling her a little. “Are you ready?” he asked with kind of a sheepish like tone. “Yes.” She answered with a giggle from his sheepy voice. Taking another deep breath, she asked “How bad is it?” as he entered the room. Derek then knelt down and got a good close look at her now exposed back. “Well, it doesn’t look good, I’ll say that.” He said as his heart sank seeing the battered back of hers.
“I’m sorry.” He said with a heavy sigh. Her hair blew with his breath. ”Why?” she asked. “If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t of had this problem.” He replied as he rested his head in his arms on the counter. Standing up, Emily slowly walked over to him, holding tightly onto the towel that covered her. She then cautiously placed her tiny hand onto his warm cheek. Looking up, he was shocked that she touched him, on her own. Looking into her eyes, he saw a courage that he didn’t see in her before. It was true, courage was flowing through her body as she looked into his sad eyes. “It’s going to be ok. It was an accident.” She said, trying to show that she knew it as truly an accident though her eyes.
Reading her eyes, he saw that she had forgiven him and knew it was an accident. She then gave him a small smile hoping he would smile back. He did. It worked! Taking in another deep breath, he stood up and opened up a drawer unit under her. Derek then pulled out another strange looking object and carefully placed it next to her. He then untwisted the cap and revealed an odd smelling white cream. Emily was full of wonder with this cream, “What is it?” she asked looking up at him. “This a bruise healing cream. The doctors gave it to me for me to use it when I got a one on my leg a little while ago.” He said now with a little more calm in his voice. “Can you reach your back?” he asked. “Not all that much, no.” Emily replied with a little embarrassment. “That’s ok, I can’t very well either. I’ll get it for you.” He replied as he took his index and collected a small amount of cream. “This might hurt a little and it is a little cold.” Derek said with a little more concern.
Holding her breath, she braced herself. It wasn’t too bad. The heat in his finger heated up the cream, making it not so cold. But the bruise was still quite warm, still making it a little cold. The circular motion in his finger made it quite soothing instead of painful, but still had some sore spots that he hit. But it still was quite soothing. He smiled seeing her quite relaxed and in his heart he didn’t want to stop, but his head told him he had to. The medicine was all rubbed in. Recoiling his hand back slowly, he then washed his hands and dried them off. ”There, done.” He said as he left the room for her to get dressed again. When he left she took off the towel and turned around to see her back. Her back was all purple, blue and black.
It was going to take a while to heal fully. Sighing she then grabbed her dress and slipped it over her head. Knocking came less startling her this time. "Yes, you can come in!” she said before he could ask. He then smiled seeing that she was folding up the hand towel. “Thanks. Here, I brought you these.” He said as he opened up his hand to her. Her belt and boots. “Thanks.” She said as she slipped them on. “Are you ready?” he asked as she looked at him, noticing that he was wearing his green shirt and cross necklace. “Ready for what?” she asked curiously as she stepped into his palm. “To go.” He replied. "Where are we going?”
