Description
"Your royal highness. Sugar Plum has requested your upmost attention." General Haze, the guardsman said as he presented the small pink pixie to the king. He sat upon his throne, his golden toned person kind and calm. Like the shimmery sands of a dessert."Thank you. King of Dreams, I humbly come before to share good and urgent news." Sugar Plum stated as she hovered closer to the golden king. "Nutcracker, with the help of her Earthan companion, has defeated the Rat Queen's evil doings, no longer a universal threat."
The King smiled. Being a beloved ruler and father of his own, he could read worry in her eyes. "That is wonderful news, but, tell me dear, something troubles you?"
"The young man that helped Nutcracker, is now in grave danger." Sugar Plum reported. "The one in prophecy. He is the KeyKeeper and time is of the essence."
"Haze, take your squad and escort the quickest route possible." The king ordered, he now sharing Sugar Plum's worrysome features. The poor boy. "Take my horse. Her friend is ours. Tell Nutcracker that she has my upmost compliance."
"Thank you. Please, with your word, share this news, before it is too late." Sugar Plum said before turning to leave.
"you have my honor." The King of Dreams lowered his head, his hand at his heart.
"Come with me, Sugar." General Haze said, leading the way to follow orders.
...
Jeanette wiped a bead of sweat off her brow, her not giving up. Nicolas was now becoming more coherent, him only giving faint moans and groans as speech. He was still weak. A rushing sound of footsteps crunched through between the Mint Bark trees. The little Nutcracker's turquoise eyes scanned her surroundings.
"Nutcracker!" The young male voice called out as a teen in a minty swirled uniform came out from the red and white shadows. The Mint Bark tree lumberjack and his dog. "My name is Mint Yorkisire. Itz an honor to meet you." The young pale man bowed with a small huff. Then he stood up straighter. "I am here to help you on your timely way." Mint said, saluting the Nutcracker, his smooth red hair lightly stirring in the cool breath of wind.
"Pleasure, Mint." Jeanette gave a withered smile.
"I can take you as far as the edge of the Dreams Kingdom, due to my duties here." Mint said. "Cane here can take your friend to the edge of the border."
"I understand. Thank you." The caramel blonde female stated as she sat Nicolas onto the back of the young male's large St. Bernard. The big dog with a grasshopper mint fur coat gave a bark in agreement. He can take him. Jeanette gave a sigh of relief as she was given a break from carrying Nick's weight.
In no time at all, they where able to pick the pace back up. Mint continued to talk the Nutcracker's ear off in the stories he has heard as they quickly weaved through the striped trees.
Jeanette gave a smile. Sounded like Sugar Plum was telling him her stories again.
"And did your friend really come from the Earthan realm? And blessed with gift as the KeyKeeper? As the Pages say?" Mint asked as he offered her Cane's little barrel of minty cocoa.
"Yes, Mint. He helped me defeat the Rat Queen's plots despite his chances and conditions. And this Earthan male is the KeyKeeper, gifted by me and Sugar Plum." Jeanette answered as she trotted beside the young peppermint teen, drinking some of the warm drink down for substance. The sweet yet savory drink warmed her core, feeling lovely going down.
"Wow... Itz all true then." Mint breathed, then sighed at the mention of Sugar Plum. "Sugar Plum is so cool."
Jeanette gave a light laugh at the sweetened words. Large paced steps got them through the tall striped trees; They met the forest's border. The Kingdom of Dreams. And the Royal Guardsmen where there with a few horses, including Sandy, the King's noble steed. Sugar Plum gave a wave.
"Nutcracker Jeanette! The Golden King has sent his full cooperation to get you and our noble friend to the Snow Queen Winter." Sugar Plum said with a flap of her glowing pink wings. "Hello Mint. Thank you for your brave help." The little pink pixie smiled warmly. It had to have been hard to drop his patrol and duties to help. "That was very... honorable."
"Don't mention it, Sugar. It was the least we can do..." Mint rubbed the back of his neck.
Jeanette smirked at the two. They really needed to share some feelings. She then wrapped her arms around Nicolas' chest and carefully sat him behind her on Sandy's back. His arms resting around her waist and him firmly on Sandy. She was feeling better when Nick's form was becoming more human fluid in motion. He was improving, but Sugar Plum's magic would only hold for so much.
"Me and Cane here wish safe and speedy travels." The white and red male waved as he backed towards the twisted trees.
"Thanks Mint." Jeanette smiled as she grabbed Sandy's leather reins. Nick slumped into her, his form using his little nutcracker as a safe support. Nicolas gave a grunt. "He-ya!" The female Nutcracker shouted as she gave a sharp crack at the leather straps, Sandy complying with a full sprint across the border. The two other men followed suit and charged across in a protective formation around them.
"Will he make it, Sugar?" Mint asked as the little bright fairy flitted by. "He looked terribly drained..." He stated his observation with his pale hand pushing red hair aside.
"His solidification is dire, but with Sandy they might have a chance to get to the Snow Queen Winter before it slows his heart too much..." Sugar Plum mentioned honestly to the peppermint teen and his St. Bernard.
Mint gave a nod. He then turned back and entered back into the Mint Bark trees.
"We are almost there, Nick. Just hold on alittle longer." Jeanette said to the limp male behind her. Closer and closer drove them harder to arrive, pushing.
Nicolas watched as wondrous worlds pass by, slowly gaining some consciousness, even if weak and slow. His whole body felt like it was numb with sleep waking up, feeling a pain. It felt terrible to have such a numbness. His mind went to his Jeannie. He wondered if that was what it felt like to be a nutcracker. A numb body that can feel pain. A curse he could only now begin to comprehend. She showed such strength, courage, and heart. A true symbol of what the legend of the Nutcracker represented. And she was his. His emerald eyes looked and studied her from his limited position, like when he first found her. Frozen and covered in the snow by the big bridge over the lake.
Jeanette held onto her small flicker of hope like it was her ultimate duty. And it was. A dear friend. Sandy charged down the cleared pathway of shimmery cobblestone like a steam train, her sense of importance heightened.
The curly auburn male became sickfully drowsy, his green eyes fainting into a black world.
The white world of winter soon came into sights, tearing through the border and onward to the crystal castle. "Forward ahead. Crystal Castle is in sights." General Haze said to the Nutcracker doll and his fellow comrade.
"And hurry, the KeyKeeper has lost conscious." The other guardsman announced as they pressed on faster on their stallions.
"No! Then not a moment to waste!" Jeanette gritted her teeth, fighting fears to bubble up. Her fortitude built up. They were going to make it. They had to make it. Just a few more feet.
Sandy whinnied and grinded to a halt as they came up to the frozen lake surrounding the icy castle, the loyal horse not able to safely cross. It would certainly crack and put everyone else in a poor situation. This is where she had to stop.
Jeanette jumped off the King's steed, easing Nicolas off into the snow. She had to make it on foot from here. General Haze grabbed Sandy's reins. The little Nutcracker lowered down as her drained person drove on. Gritting her teeth as she wrapped her arms around Nicolas' chest, his brown boots dragging across the ice.
Nick remained unconscious, not a sight of a breath. The cold air revealing his lack of air flow. His heart rate too shallow for the naked eye.
A tear slipped out of Jeanette's eyes as she huffed her way into the throne room. "Winter! Winter!" The Nutcracker doll called desperately. "Help! Please!"
The tall icy queen rushed in with no regards of her own. She didn't care about her image, she cared about her fellow people. "Nicolas! The dear!" She gasped as she caught up with the two.
Jeanette's knees buckled as she collapsed under Nick's manly weight and her lack of strength left. The Nutcracker was holding back tears as she huffed in wintery exasperated breaths.
Winter's seven foot form knelt down beside the smaller two, her frozen septer in her pale white hand. She placed her other hand on his no moving chest. It was cold.
"Save. him." Jeanette lightly whimpered as she cradled the male's curly head. "I know. You can."
"Why of course I will." Winter, with the same determined mindset, gave a flick of her wrist, her scepter glowing brightly. The young man's skin glowed a bright white, dulling in time. She was transferring a healing white magic, the comfort magic only Winter could do, into Nicolas. The more magic she used, the more of the Snow Queen's energy was drained. Small icicles formed along her crownline.
The pale queen gave a white huff as the large spell of magic was complete.
Jeanette brushed some of Nick's dark curls out of his face, his skin morphing back to its former state. Her whole body pulsed in agony of her driving her body to the limit, her now paying the price being still. Her protective nature and duties to Nick were too big of a distraction to feel too much of its pained cry. For now.
Nicolas' green eyes slowly fluttered open with a faint moan. "Jeannie?" His voice rang more beautiful than a silver bell.
"I"m here." Jeanette smiled as she hugged the male sitting up, thrusting him into an embrace.
"You..." Nick was at a loss for words. She saved his life, big time. She truly continued to amaze him. She had strength to spare. He wrapped his arms around her in a gentle squeeze. "are amazing..."
"He is still very weak. And you my dear friend have taken a harsh toll." Snow Queen Winter murmured softly to the two, snowy guardsmen attending to the 7 foot royal's famished person. "Cross the borders and take a well deserving rest."
"Thank you, your highness." Nicolas smiled as Jeanette helped him up to his feet. "I'll be sure to take care of her."
The white royal smiled as she gently brushed off her attendants. "I know you will."
Nicolas still was alittle shaky on his booted feet, but felt a major relief to be back to his human self. A half an hour and he will be back to his good ol' steady self. It was a grand feeling. A curse lifted off his shoulders and more than ready to be home for the night.
A flash of golden light passed the archway and the young man found himself back to normal in his living room. His good old 5'9 height. He gave a deep breath in. The blue grey walls and the wooden floor tiles filled with chestnut furniture and Christmas decor. Home. His fancy attire disappeared, the silver and gold key the only evidence left from it. The Key at this size was utterly breathtaking, a marvel. His gaze averted downward to his little Nutcracker, now sitting on the floor purely exhausted.
Jeanette gave a sigh of a breath, deep from her chest. She pulled the red satin ribbon out, letting her hair down. Crossing the border allowed her uniform to be amended back into its original glory. Her not so wooden form, not so much. Her cuts healed into a more scar-like form but her legs felt like jello and her back stiff as a peppermint stick. Her body throbbed like a drum. Although, the minuscule woman did not regret any action she took.
Nick hovered down close to her, practically floor level as he laid onto his chest. His hand propped up his head as his emerald eyes scanning over generously.
"Just... need a minute, Nick." The golden blonde female lightly huffed as the once again enlarged male encompassed around her, the living walls warm. His colossal presence was so overwhelming. The beating of his heart, the breath washing over hers, and his voluminous voice rolling all around her. He could smell his scent as he settled closer. His life encircling hers.
"With what you did for me, you'll need more than a minute, Jeannie..." The auburn male spoke. He gave her a sweet look of admiration and awe. She truly was a prize to beheld. A beautiful secret. And she was his. And he, as the Realm's new KeyKeeper, swore to protect it and her for now on wholeheartedly. He leaned in, taking her hat off with a few fingers and gave her small form a kiss.
Jeanette gave a smile, then felt warm as his lips came in, lightly pressing into the side of her head. The large soft skin caressing into her cheek and face. It felt nice.
"Take all the time you need, I'll be right here." The hovering male told her with a sweet and calm tone, a comfort with it. He gave her a small pet on the cheek with a thumb, shuffling some of her hair at the action.
"Thank you, Nick." The little female said with a warm smile.
"Thank you. Nutcracker." Nicolas smiled.
