Description A planet version of Exploding Sky
Not being a 360 degree panoramic, it was quite difficult joining the two ends and It is far from perfect... but I think it looks good enough for now!

very nicely done. regardless of the shortcomings you see, it is a very provoking image. may i ask what program you used to creat this kind of pano?

Thank you!

For this shot I think I was still using crappy old Photoshop's PhotoStitch... Now I use PTGui Pro to stitch everything. To turn it into a min planet is really easy to be honest. Once you have a good panorama ofcoarse!

You change the image size so the height matches the width, so it gets completely stretched... then you rotate the canvas 180° so its upside down... Then take the image and go filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates... Make sure you choose "Rectangular to Polar" - Thats all... really easy!
It works best if you use a spherical panoramic or atleast a 360° cylindrical panoramic... if you dont have one, you will need a shot with similar foreground and sky and something that the two ends look similar also... if that is the case... go filter > other > offset... and move the horizontal axis so the join is in the middle (make sure you have the "wrap around" option selected) and get going on making it as seamless as possible!

you may also want to check out [link] as its what I learned from and it has some good images to help along the way!

yeah, I suppose it's always a question of perspective when it comes to art, that's what makes it interesting
