Description EDIT: I re edited the file for the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers Iris Awards... its sorta the national photo competition. Anyway, I have lightened some areas and used my new (new from when I edited this first) processing workflow to edit the shot. I got a score of 81% which is a silver award! Im quite happy with that result!

I also entered Smokin' DJ which also won a silver award with 80%

Thanks so much to `kkart for featuring this for my 2nd Daily Deviation and to *MirkyJedi for the kind suggestion and flattering words about this shot!

EDIT:
Slightly larger file (15px higher) to fit within regulations!

Thank you to everyone for all the s and support!

This was sort of the point I wanted to get to for sunset on the first day of our road trip up the West Coast - I originally wanted to get to Knights Point (which is the rocks just below the setting sun) but there wasnt quite the view I wanted so we continued to the start of this track which took a good 30-40 mins to walk onto this stony beach (thats not sand - very small + smooth pebbles).
This was the sunset on New Years Eve and we had a perfect full moon rise 30mins after the sun had set which was a cool sight - didnt get any shots tho as we had to go set up camp before night and cook dinner!

The place was ABSOLUTELY sandfly infested - my girlfriend sat down for 5 mins to read while I was enjoying this... she looked down and her blue pants had turned black from the sheer number of sandflies! I hate the little buggers! Needless to say she went back down the track to the car and left me to get eaten alive!

I learned a lot from ~joerossbach s videos and came up with a my version of the process.

I mainly liked the process of Trillium falls but use some double/triple RAW processing blends too.

Thanks Phil.

I dont know if you know, but you can make links say what you want using some very simple html code. It wont take long to remember it:

< a href="[link] ">Featured Gallery
when I take the spaces out before both 'a's it looks like this:
Featured Gallery

Also, if you write : dev panoramicshot: without the spaces it comes out like:
#panoramicshot

Just a few things that dont take any more time really but make things look a lot better!

i know how to write HTML and CSS code, but i thought this is restricted to premium members only. there was a time where this notation was valid to set hyperlinks here on dA

so then by beautifying the message above it should be:

congratulations! this work has been added to the Featured Gallery of #panoramicshot

This has gotta be one of the most vivid and enticing panoramic beach-shots I've seen the colours are brilliant and yet nice and clear, I can tell that the clouds would have all been in one long row from one end of the sky to the other but have been "boomeranged" here due to the panoramic effect. And I like how the water reamins as aqua-coloured a sit appears during the day even though it's a sunset pic

mark-flammable In reply to Chromattix [2010-09-05 09:26:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot! The clouds werent actually joined, the bay makes the panoramic distortion seem greater.
Glad you like the shot!

great re-edit! far more pop and much better tonal range. the first was too dark in the center, which was a problem because it is the focal point of the shot. this solves that with flying colors! get the pun?! great job.
