Description I caught a glimpse of this while driving north of Whistler, BC and instinctively jumped on the breaks. Adventure was calling. A photo had to be taken.

Very nice work, mate. What time of day was this? How long was your exposure? And what the heck are those lights behind the trees?

thanks mate. It's a snip from a panoramic shot I did around the lake. It was a couple hours before dusk and my exposure was around 1/125 or so. I'd have to check the file again. Mostly it's the Lightroom/Photoshop settings that punched it up. The back light was simply the low sunlight reflecting off the hills behind the trees. I just punched it all up in post.

Right, yeah, I can see that now in regards to the light on the hill in the background and the general lighting of the shot. From the way you've touched it up it makes it look like a long exposure at night and the bright light is spotlights or street lights or house lights or some existing unnatural light behind the trees or something. And the way you've cropped the clouds at the top would lead the viewer to think that it's just the underside of the cloud cover being lit up by the lights. It's a really nice (and clever) shot.

Thanks mate. I'm thrilled you like it. I was awe struck when I saw it and simply HAD to shoot it. Glad I did

I love the way the water and the clouds make this photo look like it's fading on the edges. So cool.

Yeah I deliberately framed it that way for that reason.
