I personally never understood why people needed instruction on how to draw chibis. Most draw chibis before they worked their way up to detailed figures. I can understand how people could go wrong, though. This can go for any kind of stylization, really. The only way to get a truly original style for oneself is to study the real thing and stylize individual elements themselves. It's best not to go through a "middle man" style to learn because it hampers original artistic voice.

I enjoyed this tutorial, even though I've never been a fan of Death Note itself. I always liked the more realistic anime style. It's certainly more challenging, I think.
