again, saw this on Chris Ryall's blog, so i post it here aswell.i had fun with this page. one of my favourite parts from the movie. the thing i liked the most was pausing the dvd at the megatron part and advancing it slowly to see how the ball and chain weapon comes out of his hand. the only thing i wish was if it wasn't so blurry on the ball part of the weapon, and i had better reference for it from what i have already. a still image of it would have been nice so i could have made it a bit more accurate, but this will do, and i enjoy how this page came out. i love the colors josh used. for some reason i like seeing robots and blue sky. its a nice contrast i feel.

Regarding the ball and chain: this is an officially syndicated comic right? The studio wouldnt release some 3d model stills to you to work off?

Nana-nanana! Jets are fantastic, even if the movie Starscream did look a little bit like a chicken. You've done a great job of capturing the feeling of immediacy that came with the live action without sacrificing the comic-y-ness, and vice-versa.
Also, dyemooch has done a lovely colouring job. Sometimes I find colourists do too much, and it kinda fights with the lines for attention; but here the lines and the color complement each other nicely.
I also see some of your lovely motion lines up the top right, yes? Drawing those must take patience.

so you got a longer deadline this time, because your panels are sizzling, you bloody nailed the perspectives and angles on this page.... i've been cutting down on my comics untill i get paid but i've just gotta pic this up... not for Simons writing or the colours...just those sizzling panels

nah, i just stopped inking the pages now. it was taking too long. i might have still been doing it right now even if i were inking them. i do like inks, but its just so costly also, that this is better, and the finals look pretty sweet if i might say so. so pencil it is from now on. well until i want te pages to be inked again.

i'm such a control freak i have to do my own inking, i add alot more detail and edits in as i ink tho, allowing me to round out the pages and i'm lucky i can get two pages inked a day unless their detail crazy.

well when i'm in a work mood i can ink 2 pages a day, but i go through a lot of pens, so to now just pencil is more cost effecient to me. pencils with colors don't look to shabby either. i like how with inks i can keep the page super clean, but i can still keep the page clean with pencils sowhy not just go that way. not as much work to do, so i can have a bit of a life.

if i can get the editor to swear on aa ancient stone coverd in blood lol that they will only want the digital pages, they wont then ask for the originals, i'll leave out the mass shading and add it digitally to save on my pens, some pages just devour my sharpies etc but i just love that superclean feeling when my inks are done, i feel naked in pencils ha

If pencils scanned better, and if they didn't smudge, then I would never ink. I always feel like I'm screwing it up when I ink, and I'm too lazy to use rulers most of the time.

some people i know ink digitally. Inking is great because you get to edit your own work after your pencils are approved by a client. as for ruleers, i mostly use them for the panels and buildings and thats it.
youve got to learn or have a go at everything so you know what you really enjoy and what you dont like or need
