Description
Mandelbulb 3D v1.8.9 www.deviantart.com/users/outgo…DEcombinate in 'min' mode using: SierpHilbert/_reciprocalX2/sphereIFS
Still furiously experimenting with Volumetric Light in M3D.
It took absolutely AGES to get that damn sphere into the shaft,
but I reckon it was worth the effort....

...um, is this built on a Mandelbox base? My apologies, but I'm still figuring out all the basics. I've been following you for years, and thought I'd take some inspiration from your work, rather than just paste in a param set. I'm not sure I'm starting it out right.

Hi David, apologies for the delay in responding.
Not based on a Mandelbox; as I state in the description, this is a 'DEcombinate in 'min' mode using: SierpHilbert/_reciprocalX2/sphereIFS'.
If you're still working on the basics, then you might have some difficulty with this one. Particularly getting the sphere into the correct position....

Usually I'm okay with just poking around and tweaking to feel a program out, but when I try that combination of formulas I get a sort of random cubist design in 2D and nothing but a solid color in the Navi window. No amount of moving around seems to make a difference, and I don't really have a feel yet for what to look for in response to changes in the settings under the formula tabs. I've run into a few posts that are tweaks of something where the original parameters were not referenced--so, just wanted to make sure I had the right starting point.
Thanks for the clarification, and no worries about the lag.

beautiful have you ever thought about turning the whole piece on its side? like with the light coming from the right side instead of the top?

This has a sense of enormous scale to it. Feels like the sphere could easily be as large or larger than ummm...a colosium? Huge! Love the lighting.
