Description
A brand new commissioned piece featuring the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier in Vietnam. I had a lot of fun with this one although it was a tight deadline. First fielded in 1962, the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier was the most widely used armored vehicle of the Vietnam war.The M113 is only lightly armored to provide protection against small arms fire. The vehicle proved highly adaptable such as the Armored Cavalry (ACAV) version depicted here featuring a .50 cal machine gun turret, 2 M60 machine guns in rear positions and additional belly armor. They were heavily used for reconnaissance in force and search and destroy missions. The M113 has a crew of 2 and can carry up to 11 troops.Β Prints are available through my website, www.markkarvon.net.Related content

Man real cool water in the grooves on the mud!! I m in Vietnam now and I can imagine these vehicles here not so long ago.. the scenery in the back works well to my eye suggesting the location. Do you use lots of reference? How do you get such a great result ?

I'm aware one of these vehicles was used to evacuate space shuttle astronaut crews from the launchpad in an emergency.Β

Brilliant "mud work".
The ship has sailed here, but I think I'd gave called this "ACAV" to leave the plain 113 title for one that doesn't have the extra LMGs.

No that brings back memories. Don't ask what kind.
Anything with wheels or tracks was an automatic fire magnet but it sure beat humping especially during the monsoon and they did pack a punch.
