FYI the shutter speed on the image is actually 170 sec's not 1/170. DA for some reason doesn't reflect correctly long shutter speeds.

Call me sheltered, but I have NEVER seen a photographer shoot a nature scene using a filter to acheive such a dark effect.

The NDX400 filter is 9 stops basically a piece of black glass, so it darkens everything. I wanted to accentuate the light on the water so added a vingette to darken the edges and put the focus on the water.
