Description
This is a sculpt I did for Virgin Comics. Is one of their comic book characters called "Ramayan" the worrior prince. It'll be a full color hand painted collectable figurine. This is based on the cover art from one of their comics called Rama painted by Alex Ross. It's about 11 1/2" tall.

I've grown up watching "Ramayana" on indian television and hearing stories about the epic..but i never imagined Rama to be this beautiful and awesome!! Alex Ross Rocks for the concept art.
I just don't have the words for you Mark...i havnt sculpted ever in my life but your gallery surely inspires millions of ppl. Here is a suggestion dude..why don't u write a book or something or release a training kit kind of thing on sculpting!!

The blue stones are beautiful. Without them, something would definitely be missing.

This is awsome!!! I love sculpting, but I'm not good enough yet to produce something as good as this piece. I'm working on it though.

I have a technical question for you:
I'm trying to make a sculpture with similar structure of a suspended figure. My first attempt failed miserably because the base wire I used wasn't strong enough and the clay cracked every-which way. (Arrrrg!!!) So my questions are 1) what wire gage/weight would you recommend for a sculpture similar in size to this one, and 2) I've previously used only aluminum foil to flesh out the armature...is there a better material to use?
Beautiful work by the way, this particular one is really a gem.
Sincerely,
Rachael

I am seeing now your gallery and you are outstanding tallented!
I use Fimo Soft, I read you use Super Sculpey and otherss (it must to be great, because mine is very very soft and dificult for details, but in my country is difficult to find others). But I'd like to ask you, what did you do for it doesn't fall?:
you use a metal skelleton
the base has got something very heavy
the sculpture has got the cool position to do counterbalance
other..
Thx u!!

As said many times- this is a beautiful sculpture. I have another question and I apologize if you have already answered it previously:
How is the weight distributed so that the "cape" is able to hold the character up solo? Is there a sturdy wire mesh within the cape?
Would love to know how you were able to pull this off. Best wishes!
