Description
This is a sculpt I did for Virgin Comics. Is one of their comic book characters called "Ramayan" the worrior prince. It'll be a full color hand painted collectable figurine. This is based on the cover art from one of their comics called Rama painted by Alex Ross. It's about 11 1/2" tall.

I absolutely love the way it's balanced on the sash. It really gives it an amazing effect.

Alex Ross is one of my favourite artists and, of course, this sculpt is a quadruple "WOW!" with a large side order of "Good gracious!!"

You have really captured that stoic Alex Ross expression. Do you use baked sculpey (or some other kind of solid object) for the eyes?

that really IS amazing. i love the detail and hoe you've rendered the sole of his shoe. Looking at all the praise you're getting i thought you might enjoy some criticism. (I am by no means anywhere near your level of skill so these are just ignorant, picky things). what bothers me though is that he doesn't really have any expression on his face. and i wish there was a bit of a tilt to his head. and maybe it's just the angle of the picture but his left arm seems chunky or something.
It's incredible!

Thanks Paul. Critique is always a good thing. Originally I did give him a more appropriate expression on his face. More intense. But they wanted him to be fairly calm and focused looking. Personally I liked the more fears look better than this one but you gotta please the client.

You truly are a craftsman. Such a dynamic EXCELLENT pose, captured so flawlessly. Excellent sense of balance within the piece, and the amount of detail is worth staring at for countless hours. You really are a professional artist, and just such stunning outcomes in everything you do

Great work. I would like to see some of these sculptures shot with a single light source though, but that's the still life painter in me coming out. Do you have a studio in Oakland? or a place that retails your work in the area?
