Description
IF THE NAME 'NAFFY' IS OFFENSIVE OR MEANS SOMETHING WEIRD, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! The previous name for this character turned out to be... uhm... gross. I thought it was just a random word (that's how I usually name my characters) but apparently it wasn't. Heh. ANYWAY:Entry for this contest www.deviantart.com/journal/Com… from miitoons
Introducing one of my own characters, Naffy! A character with a big heart... and nose.
Species: Some kind of penguin maybe? He also has some dog-like features. Your guess is as good as mine XD
Powers and talents: The power to be a pokey little flab biscuit. He can also run pretty fast, slide on his belly and flutter. He can make random high-pitched noises (he CAN'T talk, but he can understand pretty much everything humans and animals say), he can use his nose as a trumpet, he can hold his breath for a long time and swim really fast.
Natural habitat: Cold areas with snow and ice
Personality and Backstory:
This scatterbrained furball is a bit crazy but loves to go on little adventures. His curiosity usually gets him in some bad situations. Naffy isn't very clever, but he's always kind and doesn't even know what a 'prejudice' is.
Naffy sure loves fish! And not just dead ones with chips and mayonnaise, they're also fascinating to look at.
Since Naffy has no natural enemies he's not afraid of anything, except for creatures that have too many legs like spiders and squids. Some would say he's brave, but actually he's actually not aware of the danger. He'd greet killer sharks with a smile on his face. Ow. That probably explains why his species is almost extinct.
Naffy is quite hyperacive, but when it gets boring he falls asleep almost instantly. His attention-span is incredibly short. And his spine is probably made of rubber as he can morph and stretch his entire body.
He's not always happy and crazy though. It's easy to hurt his feelings, and nobody likes a sad Naffy... Just look at that frowny face ;___;
Overall, this big-nosed gooffball could be the perfect pet for a young child. And a NIGHTMARE for its parents! Don't even try to potty-train him XD

Eh, by the way, earlier this week I saw that you had send me a long reply about the story of Bionicle but I'm afraid I've accidentally removed it from my message center... do you remember where it was? Because it was interesting and I'd love to read it

Oh, yeah! It was an update on my opinion on the reboot, now I've seen the story so far.
The plastic sets are nice but I really don't like the story compared to G1. G1 had a dark hardcore story with a lot of complexity and brutality that was surprising to find in a kid's toy series. (I believe that's why they cancelled it in the first place lol).
G2 is quite literally "dumbed down". But, I'm glad to see females are not segregated to Water this time (PoE)
I removed that deviation BTW

Oh, that explains it
I see what you mean. The new story is pretty lame indeed...
When I was a kid I didn't even know the story for G1 was so complex and dark (they never released the books in my country and I usually just made up my own stories with the characters).
Later when I discovered it through the internet I thought it was a bit too 'edgy' and trying too hard to be cool but I still like it a lot more than this new story.
In a way it reminds me of Sonic Boom: they've forgotten who their fans are and how old they are now and try to get a new younger audience (I could be wrong on that).

Yeah, you're actually right on that. They have a Bionicle FB page and most of the fans are guys in their late teens or early 20s haha
They actually revealed that the story was more-or-less made up as they went along, surprisingly. That's probably how it became so complex and hard to follow with countless sub-plots and alternate realities.

Heh, that explains a lot. The final parts of the story were pretty weird and almost too convoluted. I still don't know exactly how the story went

The Toa Mahri had a really messed up and dark ending, which was never continued or resolved. I had an idea for a continuation story where they are saved, or this is at least attempted. Pretty bummed that there were so many loose ends left untied.

An extremely powerful being was created from the remains of the Piraka by other members of their species on some island as a cult ritual. Jaller, Hahli, and Kongu were sent there and this god-like being took full control of their minds. They now worship it and all transported to one of the other planets, where they built some huge fortress and shit. There they remain as mindless slaves to that thing.
Nuparu and Hewki had something to do in Metru Nui, while Matoro was obviously dead from his sacrifice.
But yeah, it's a real shame they never finished that.

Yeah, bizzare story. Bionicle was one of those extremely rare things where the villains would almost always defeat the heroes at some point. Either that, or the heroes would end up just going their own ways with little accomplished.

MoonGoneDark In reply to MarkProductions [2015-08-10 21:33:05 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, and that's also why the final year was so weird. You could just see the writers obviously saying "alright guys we gotta wrap this all up let's go!"
... And so they unexplainably reverted Tahu (and only Tahu) from his prime to his weakest Mata form, made him hunt for the "special gold armor and suddenly make everything right". None of which made any actual sense at all. Sigh...

Sigh... that reminds me... those last 'Bionicle Stars' (or whatever their name was) really sucked. Too bad the series had to end on that note.
They also just released the script for the last chapter on the website without any context whatsoever. "Lol Bionicle is over guys, here's the end go read that shit k bye!".

Pretty much. They could have at least done full-size canister sets for those but they were less than 20 pieces.
They were supposed to be a callback to some of the best points in the story but decided to use them for the final story... This of course caused a lot of contradictions since two of them were already dead, one wasn't even supposed to be there and two were from the exact same line.
Laaaamme!

Yea. The Piraka member (forgot his name) was reduced to a head-on-a-spine with his bros at the end of 2006; all 6 of them were later used to make that mind-control overlord who enslaved the Toa Mahri.
The Rahksi were supposed to be gone, but I guess they decided to bring back a yellow one lol.
They totally messed it all up. You could say: "they Sonic-Teamed it"- wrecked it at its prime!

Interesting! That's a pretty big fail then xP
OH NO. I just imagined what the ending would have been like if it was written by Sonic Team.
Makuta: "It's no use... but why can't I defeat you?"
Mata Nui: "Because, WE'RE SONIC HEROES!
FREE SCARFS AND REDESIGNS FOR EVERYONE!"
I'm sorry XD

I'm not sure which has more ridiculously poor writing: the fan fiction or the actual modern Sanic games.
Seriously, you could have a toddler narate the plot of every modern era Sanic game and it would sound perfectly in place.
Too bad Boonicle suffered a somewhat similar fate at the end...the franchise was put into a "deep sleep and later reawakened". Funny how that worked out D'

Indeed. They looked at what succeeded before and did it right!
Except for spending huge a huge part of their budget on giving solid gold masks to kids who took photos of trash. They may have been slightly drunk when they decided to do that. That money could have been used for more parts in poor little Pohatu, and maybe even that badass 3D animation like they used to.

MoonGoneDark In reply to MarkProductions [2015-08-16 22:26:16 +0000 UTC]
Pft, yeah. They just cannot live up to this legendary level of badassery that they had before
The cartoon style was kinda cheap because it's a hell of a lot easier to animate and render. They didn't even use the old comic style .
The G1 animation and story illustrations alone were enough to take it beyond being a simple toy line. They really showed it as being a hardcore dark story with a plot more interesting than most mature movies.
Maybe that's why they did the silly cartoon look? To show that G2 is more of a kid-friendly comedy show?

SO AMAZING! The Toa Mahri are probably my favorite
And the voice acting is actually pretty decent.
Maybe LEGO isn't very confident in the new project and gave the animators a small budget?
...I hope that's not true. I REALLY hope that's not true

I think that's the only full quality Mahri video that exists on the internet; first time I've seen it in clear HD and it is even more beautiful than ever before!
Probably my favorite team too. They were the first Toa team to have different and creative builds in Lego parts, as well as allowing other members besides red to have the leader role depending on the situation (Inika was Matoro and this was Hali, even though Jaller is the actual one in charge)
They even gave Jaller that American accent that the original matoran version had!
I could go on forever about how perfect that video is in action, and what it shows of the story and character development of each of them.
Holy Mata Nui that's a long reply

Nah I've seen longer replies XD
My replies are usually a bit on the short side... I have no idea why
I know right! I've already made an awesome screenshot to use as a wallpaper.
Although Hali appears to be the leader she doesn't really do much in this animation.
That's a shame since she looks so badass with those wings!

Yea! Toa of Water in a water environment made her "god-like", as I remember Lego putting it back in 2007. She was insanely overpowered.
They actually have an offial Mahri wallpeper with Hahli right at the front. You could probably find it on Google.
