She looks so photo-realistic. It's like you could actually touch her hair.
Expertly done, Mark.

Thank you. I just adore these Darla stock images ... The fabric, the lighting and hair, everything that inspires me to draw.

Wow!!! (mouth open in awe) Gorgeous work first on the hair and skin tones...very smooth!! Second the folds in the fabric are done just fantastic. I will hang this in my "Masterpiece faves" to marvel at. Stunning Mark!! this totally inspires me. YESSSS larger format = more detail..more like this.

wow! i'm amazed by the hair, you've managed to convey the shade (& texture) of her hair, the subtle differences in tone are beautiful, the skin looks so soft, and i do love the ruching of her blouse, like a renaissance style drapery. ...yes you have improved (if it's possible to increase perfection).

Superlative drawing, Mark. As others have said, the blouse and hair are especially good. It is with the latter especially where working on large paper really pays dividends.

Thanks Clive. Deciding to move up to a larger format totally changed and freed the way I draw and I feel more naturally comfortable now plus my eyesight has degraded over the last few years. It's nearly time to swap the table for my easel again soon because I stand all day now looking down at the paper and it's really playing hell with my back and I know that an easel would make me sit down once again. Yes I've got into clothing this year for sure.

I may already have told you this - I do the preliminary drawing and shading using the floor as my workspace (good light in front of the patio doors and I can get above the drawing with ease). I prop myself on my left elbow and a few months ago my elbow swelled and became somewhat painful to rest on in spite of there being moderate cushioning where I rest it (rug over carpet). I now use a cushion to rest on and the inflammation has subsided. While on the floor I remove my glasses (I am short-sighted); if I keep them on the close work strains my eyes.
When I move to the table to add the finer details and more accurate shading I have to raise my glasses on my nose with a foam pad so that I look at the screen through the bottom part of my varifocals and can look under them for the drawing. Even so a session of more than 1.5 to 2 hours is quite enough for my eyes! The A4 size of my drawing allows me to sit at the table, I am glad to say!

I used to suffer from the elbow problems too in the past, very painfull at times. I hope you get that under controll. I think if i got down on the floor to work i might not be able to get up again Clive. I do the glasses thing too, it's more than likely the reason i stand at my table ... looking down through my vari's. My back went during this piece so i spent two weeks unable to stand for more than a couple of minutes at a time, very frustrating and painful as i usually spend up to 8 to 10 hrs a day drawing. Getting easier now though. Hey we can honestly say that we suffer for our art lol. Take care my friend.

My Yoga keeps me supple and mobile - I lead two 1 hour 15 min sessions, one after the other, weekly during term-time, for the U3A.
