Thank you, i've been experimenting with shading techniques on my last three pieces and i'm quite happy how they turned out.

Care to share your experimental shading techniques that you have discovered to make your pieces look so flawless?

It's nothing new, just light layers of hatching using three grades .. not something i usually do but i wanted to try it out. The final two or three layers were left unblended.

I really loved doing this one but it did take me two attempts .. i had her eyes too close together in the first lol, it looked very strange indeed

so this happens to pros like you, you see me much relieved i always think i am the only one butchering things up and that all the artists i admire only have to put their pencil or brush or stylus on their paper, wacom, canvas to make immediate successes lol, i guess i am romantising art lol

I love experimenting and trying out new ideas (this year I have experimented with grey scale) so I do throw a lot away and start again because some ideas are not always as good as I first thought. Four of my last five were binned after about 20hrs work and two of them because the sketches were way out proportionally. It happens and unlike digital I waste a lot of expensive materials which sucks .. My local art shop must love me lol. I see nothing at all wrong with romanticising art .. That's why yours are so beautiful

thank you, aww i love my digital you can tweak it till it is right and not lose your effort, i could imagine another artform but then i am deeply in love with my wacom
i know lots of people still doubt digital, find it easy, which it isn't by the way but it sure has its advantages
but i will always have a soft spot for the "real" guys like you, i was just not good enough till digi gave me wings

yay. she's beautiful. of all the artists who exalt nudity, you can do it, and i'm impressed that you lean towards making clothes beautiful. it's encouraging and, i think, is far more attractive.

I have to agree with you, and nude drawing is something i did a lot of in my art school days and was very very exhausting but important at that time and it is definitely not easy .. but i do love rendering clothing, after working on the figures it's always nice to get stuck into something different

There is no fucking way that thing is as smooth in full size as it looks at this resolution. It can't be.
...it BETTER not be or I'm a set somethin' on FIRE!

markstewart In reply to Klenesk [2014-03-20 12:31:50 +0000 UTC]
haha thank you, It's a low res upload stitched together from many A4 pieces so it can look a little too soft after gentle erasing of the many page borders. I will be adding a hi res scan next month which will give it a more realistic look but it's still pretty close as it is. No fires needed

Thank you, it did take a little more time, it felt like i was making it up as i went for a lot of the time and i prefer to have a well laid plan. I'll have a better idea of how to plan a drawing like this next time and i would hope to get about 50hrs yes.
