Thanks Shelley, i'm a sucker for this type of reference and chiaroscuro art in general and i jumped at the chance to do this. I'm already looking for more of them to get stuck into

The first piece in 2015 that goes into my 'Best of the Best' folder - simply breathtaking Mark - I tend to avoid references that have a 'dark into black' area, such as here with the hair on the right hand sight (as you look at it), but you have done an amazing job of transitioning the two, and the softness of the shading is wonderful - what size is this mark?

Thank you very much I'm deeply honoured Paul as i feel extremely anxious when posting any piece of work. I don't think i will ever get over my own insecurity with my drawings and always feel they are not good enough, especially now with my eyesight deteriorating so fast that i am forced to go larger and adapt my style to suit. I feel like it's a race against time for me now
I've had some wonderful comments for this which gives me hope and i am so grateful for them all as without them i think i would just give up. Size ... 60cm x 40cm so a little over A2 size. i want and need to go larger but i desperately need more room so i'm looking to move home this year if something suitable comes along. I've also uploaded a large number of my gallery with larger files that show more of how i work because those small ones don't really show much, when i've finished i'll post a quick journal incase anyone is interested.

I'm not sure any of us get beyond our own insecurities when it comes to the art work we produce - I know most of mine ends up in a bottom drawer or the bin, despite protestations from family and friends. Β In your case I cannot see why you are anxious, this is true art - art in its most majestic format. Β It would be a disaster for the art-world (let alone you personally) if your eyes failed to the point when you could not draw any-more, selfishly I hope your passing on your skills to someone Have you thought about teaching? I know I would sign up for a course straight away - I will be moving back to the UK in the summer for good, I hope to open an art gallery and would love to see some of your work hanging there.Β

Breath taking art! It's drawings like this that motivate me to practice more, i'm awed by your skill and the powerful emotions, I especially love the light and the way i falls on her shirt, shaping the contours of her body, beautiful, subtle and incredibly real.

(Jaw drops) I first thought it's one of those boring B & W photos supposed to look emotive. But damn is this well drawn. Amazing shading and highlighting skill. Great detailing, esp. on the shirt. Really impressive!
