Description
So, I got a little carried away when I decided to expand the map. that meant having to re-do a bunch of layers (and all my layer masks). I'm still playing with the color palette, and there are still a bunch more rivers I need to add. I wasn't planning to show the full map just yet, since the initial release of this (when finished) will only go just past the Hordelands, like on the other I posted. Eventually I will turn it from a 2-page map to a 3-page map and then there will be even more than what is shown here (as of right now its 26" wide, and 3 pages would have to be 33" wide, so its about 2Β½ pages as-is. The reason why I went ahead and added-in Kara-Tur ahead of time was in order to get the layout of the adjoining areas PERFECT. No single map has ever attempted to show the entire continent in geographic detail before.Β I also re-did quite a lot of the coasts I already had (the psuedo-Japanese islands came out so nice I felt guilty about how bland I had made the Moonshae coasts). I also had to add in all the glaciers because even though they are technically 'water', they had to be part of the land layer mask because REASONS. There are also a few new islands over in the Yellow & Celestial Seas (because I love islands and this is MY map LOL).Related content

This is amazing. I hope you manage to find the time to finish this

Massive... now just include all of Zakhara too. ^^
I used to have the city of Waterdeep trail map on the wall of my gaming room. Over time it faded though (luckily I've a still foil wrapped copy) and I wanted to use the wall space for various other illustrations too. This could become a rather worthy successor and strong challenger for said wall space.
Given you use Gimp as well, did you create any special brushes or some such for your map projects?

I have textures I created, mostly from the 3e maps, but no brushes. I have brushes I downloaded and have used onΒ my other maps, though. I keep meaning to post another update, but then I keep wanting to 'do just a little more'. LOL Maybe later today, we'll see. Eventually I do plan on doing a bigger one, adding more to the west and another 'row' below for Zakhara and what-not. No world map, though. Not necessary, IMO. Its already so huge its slowed my comp down to a crawl - I need to start deleting some of the no-longer-necessary layers (like the underlying maps). I may eventually label geographic regions, but I hadn't planned on labels for this one. I should probably throw a scale on it, though (and eventually a Map Key).

I must say, I do love this map you have created.
I am curious, what program did you use to make this? '3'

I use GIMP. I used to use Photoshop, but I lost my copy (and computer) in a fire. I figured I would use GIMP (because its FREE) until I got the Insurance money, but I was using it so long that I got used to it and now its my program of choice. It can do everything PS can do, but usually with more steps involved, which actually made me a better artist because I had to understand the processes involved, rather than just let the 'automation' do its thing. Thank you for your interest - its still a long way from getting done.
