I never noticed but he actually does look like one!
Although I believe I heard/read somewhere that he's supposed to be a badger

Ah, that makes sense. But those disproportionately small feets are totally guinea pig-esque! I so want to make one of these, I might try doing a mini version.

Oh man, I've been looking for a Gulliver pattern for a while now, I'm so glad I found one! 8'D

I have a question, though, how can I make him fatter?

I'm glad you like it.

You can try making him fatter by making the pattern bigger like this: [link] i.e. draw parallel lines where you can see them in this picture. Don't change the size where the head goes. I think this will work.
If you use a somewhat stretchy fabric you can just stuff him more
