Description So Asami was unexpectedly turned into an elephant during her little vacation to the spirit world. While they try and devise a cure (if there even is one) she's decided to not let it get her down; she's even got her tailors to make up a nice few outfits for her. A CEO can't simply wallow in self-pity while the company suffers, after all!

Thought this was an interesting piece when I first saw it; figured you might appreciate a bit more feedback!

I like the general idea behind the image (obviously because I like Asami and I like transforming people ), though I feel like the elephant's anatomy could use a bit more work. Obviously getting different animals down is quite tricky (I still struggle with it every time), but I hope that I can give you a few pointers that'll help you out in the future!

I feel like her head is quite small compared to the rest of her body, considering an elephant's proportions. Elephants'  heads are really huge compared to their bodies (compared to other animals); although it's just slightly too small it is quite noticeable. At the same time I'm wondering why she doesn't have any tusks; since those are quite iconic for elephants; now Asian elephants don't always have tusks, but the elephant you've drawn is quite obviously an African elephant (the ear shape is quite distinctive).

Although it's just slightly again, I feel like her front legs are too long compared to her body. These kinds of proportions can be thrown off by just a little bit; as you continue to draw you'll get better at noticing them and correcting them. In general the front legs' length up to the body is about the same height as the body is; in your case it's just slightly off. This is enhanced slightly by the way her front legs are touching the ground at a lower point than her hind legs; I think you did this for perspective reasons, but it just makes the front legs look longer, like she'd be tilted slightly if she were standing on equal footing.

I personally feel like the hind legs are a bit too straight; I found this image (which I think you used as a reference, because the pose is very similar) s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/o… If you look at the hind legs in this image they are both straight, but angled towards the pelvis; taking a big stride with the limited hip movement an elephant's body permits him. I don't know if you work out the anatomy before you add clothes to your drawing, but if you don't you probably should. Making all anatomy work and correct before you complicated the image further with clothing really makes your drawing and poses more believable. It also kind looks odd to me that the back hind leg (the one furthest away from us as viewers) is touching the ground at a lower point than the front hind leg. Due to perspective this makes it seem like one leg is longer than the other one.

Hope these tips will help you! I do like this image and I hope you'll continue your drawing

I love Asami as a character; such intelligence and maturity despite her position as a extravagantly wealthy heiress! She easily could have been a spoiled and ill-adjusted but I think she's one of the better-written characters in LoK. Of course, wanting to see such a slender beauty as a hefty, lumbering elephant was a big inspiration; I'd like to think she would keep it together and continue to guide her company to success despite her lack of thumbs.

Despite my infrequent uploads I still try and practice different species everyday, it's a difficult challenge but I like to think the funnest part of TF is to have a large variety of animals to work with. Speaking of which, I believe I need to spend a lot more time on large mammals such as elephants as I wasn't quite used to how very large their heads are! Glancing at a few more references makes it clear I definitely should've given more weight to her head.

You were right to think it was intended as a perspective thing. The original sketch made it a lot more clear that her body was at a sort-of quarter-turn but I ended up messing around too much with the lineart and that resulted in taking a lot of depth out of her body while the legs still appeared to be sized for a turned pose. That's a good reference for the movement of the hips, I had kind of intended for her to be in mid-step; again a bit of problem with the perspective issues associated with conveying movement.

I do really appreciate the critiques, it means a lot for you to take the time to go over some of my shortcomings! I've mostly been jumping around unfinished sketches at the moment but hopefully I'll get around to polishing something up for an upload! Thanks again! ^w^

You're definitely not the only one liking Asami a whole bunch; and she's of course a whole lot of fun to work with when it comes to transformations

Keeping up the practising is definitely a bigger priority than uploading frequently. I truly think that the variety is one of the reasons I've been so fascinated with TF's and keeping up with all the different kinds of animals is challenging, but very rewarding at the same time.

I'm glad you found some useful points out of the critique; I really enjoy your drawings so far and I'm happy to help where I can ^^
