Description
A sprite w/ tutorial, as requested by DonMungMung. Yeah!Well, I was going to do Sailor Moon or B. Orchid from Killer Instinct, but then I thought, "People don't want long-legged, big-breasted women. No, what people want is a blue-faced guy from an obscure Canadian TV show".
Ha ha, it's a sprite of a sprite - how awesome.
Colour Commentary
________________________
1) Hand-drawn picture. I do this mainly because I don’t have a tablet and I don’t like drawing large sprites by mouse if I can help it. I imagine the best thing would be to use a tablet. Then I copy the picture to the iDraw program to reduce the colour count to 3 or 4 blueish colours so it’s easy to trace over. I then copy that picture back to MS Paint where I proceed to go to town.
2) Trace over hand-drawn picture. Great fun.
3) Use the Eraser Tool (right click) to clear away the blueish colours.
See this? Don’t do like me. I’m thoroughly unprofessional: I drew a crappy picture by hand and followed it up with crappy line art. Don’t do that. Try to make sure by the line art stage that the picture looks decent, more or less like the final product, so that you don’t have to fiddle with it as you go along. That probably would’ve saved me steps 6 to 13. But whatever – I’m not bitter.
4) Now’s when the fun begins. Fill in the colours: all flat tones, noting ambitious. .
5) Now I introduce some shades. You can see I’ve already began making my palette.
Hey! Let’s actually try to adhere to the 16-colour rule today. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve always myself harboured a love-hate relationship with the 16-colour limit. I mean, on the one hand, it makes for a great challenge – pixel art requires that you know what you’re at, and the 16-colour thing epitomizes that. On the other hand…it’s 16 lousy colours! Come on!
6) Fix the eyes a little and adjust his torso and legs so that he doesn’t look like an off-center Dudley Do-Right.

It's a sprite tutorial... of a... sprite! -snerks-. Oh god, you humor me.
This is great. Gotta love the blue-faced man with a generic name from an obscure TV show. XD
I'd certainly would LOVE to see Hexadecimal like this.
Maybe you should do her, with some hexadecimal code of the colours you used. (Bad pun).
XD
Great tutorial though. :] I love the detail.

Hmm. Seems people are wanting Hexadecimal. Now the question is which of the four - make that three (I thought the Sprite look was kinda stupid) versions to make it...

Well, Hexadecimal is just very popular~
Hmm... My suggestion would be either the first Hexadecimal, or the last one (the form she had when she fought Daemon and had the gold and the leather).
Since those two are my favorites. :]
I guess it depends how detailed you want to go.
Maybe a traditional Hexadecimal would be lovely. :]

O GOD
OH MY FUCKIN' GOD
REBOOT
REBOOOOOOOT DX
You can't possibly understand the sheer joy I felt when I saw the initial sketch. THAT'S RIGHT, IN THE FIRST SKETCH~ (actually, that's 'cause I didn't get the title at first hahaha)
(on a side note, I never knew Reboot was from Canada!) Great step-by-step. Usually I like some sort of comments, but the pictures you screen-capped flow very nicely, and it gives the audience a feel for your thought process.
The colors you picked look great, and the pose is nice too. Will you happen to have the original sprite once this is finished? I'll love to see 'em and compare!

Hoo hoo, ha ha. Be careful what you wish for. I was wondering where to put the step-by-step comments - in the picture itself or in the comment box. It's gonna cover practically every detail, down to the pixel.
And no original sprite, unfortunately (I looked pretty hard, too), which is one of the reasons I prefer to hand-draw the pictures as you shall hear.

(wait what happened to the progress pictures?)
This looks great man! I love the way you captured Bob's face, and his gauntlets looks amazin'~
I don't mind a ton of commentary; that just means more info to learn!
And I didn't know that there wasn't a sprite, 'cause you said "a sprite of a sprite", but I guess you said that 'cause Bob's kinda like an icon for Norton antivirus or something haha.

Oh, the best. Parodies are rampant and awesome.
The first season was fun and episodic, the second season was a little darker, the middle of the third season was kinda meh, and by the end of the fourth, it's brought right back full circle, except even awesomer.
And it's not one of those shows that you love as a kid and then you watch it when you're older and it seems really cheesy; it retains 100% percent of its awesome. If anything it's even better because you get some jokes that you may not've as a kid.
Wow, that was practically an ad for the show. Anyway, the short answer is, yes, it's good.
The episodes are all up on...the internet somewhere(*cough*YouTube*cough*), but you didn't hear that from me.

You don't have to worry about the YouTube thing; I'm the one who put 'em up (well, I'm not the first, but I improved the quality), and the folks at Rainmaker told me it was okay! Heck, they asked me for the embedding code! Don't think they ever did anything with it, though...

ShinyHappyGoth? Wow. You know, I'm on your videos like white on rice, especially now for reference.
Not only is it Reboot, but the picture and sound quality on your channel are the best, and I'm not just saying that. So...Good on you! And Rainmaker sounds like a pretty cool company to be down like that. Excellent!

Thanks. ^_^ Yeah, they are very cool, but it's also in their own best interest to let me. There's some contract preventing them from releasing new DVDs for a while yet, and the old ones are out of print, so since they can't make any money off the old shows for now, they may as well let 'em be out there for free and accumulate more fans for the upcoming movies, right?
And I know you're not just saying that, 'cause that was my intention in uploading the stuff in the first place. Thanks again, and be sure to spread the joy!
