Description
As the largest vessels of their time, the ancient exploration vessels of the Centauri Republic represented both the ambition and military mandate of the early Centauri Pioneers, who went out to conquer and cultivate the stars. Although the primary purpose of the Explorer class was of scientific nature, mapping and probing distant worlds, it always carried a complement of republican soldiers and armed auxiliary craft, to meet any unknown civilization and danger with appropiate force. As they often met less technologically advanced peoples, the Explorer vessels were thus come to be known as mighty battleships in some parts of the galaxy. They established much of the later Centauri Doctrine of shock and awe, appearing more powerful than they actually were.ΒBabylon 5

Huge yet elegant. Never been a huge fan of most B5 ships, but this is kind of cool.

Bab5 ships certainly have a peculiar style about them. Is there anything specifically about them which bothers you in most of them? I'd be interested to play around with that!Β

Most Earth Alliance ships are just plain ugly with all their blockiness, while Minbari ships look needlessly "alien" and strange just for the sake of it. The Warlock and Victory classes are the pretty neat, but that's just about it.

Ah yes, the alien-for-the-sake-of-it is really a bad look. I can't say I'm finding EA vessels particularly pretty, but I always loved how their design kind of mirrored the narrative of the EA, with ships becoming less colorful and menacing as the clarke regime takes over.Β
Well, there's tons and tons of Hyperion & Omega variants out there anyway. So if I ever do some EA designs, Imight try to go off the Warlock-Class and produce a few pretty ones for you!Β

The Ancient Centauri Explorer - Redux!Β
Well, as AncientScion Β pointed out in the first version...that one was very reminiscent of Mallacore's modern Centauri design style, which didn't really fit with the whole "ancient" style. So, here, to celebrate the Birthday of Mallacore Β and dedicated to the patient Babylon 5 fans among my watchers who endure the bombardement of 40k stuff at the moment: The proper ancient design! Even with a beak, despite me hating that part!Β

I'm glad! Having just started a new rewatch of Bab5, I'm getting more and more in the mood for more artworks. ISEA expeditions has been going slowly, but now I finally have a good conclusion in mind and it'll be simultaneously the start of something new, even better!

I've been working slowly through my own rewatch of the series.
Definitely excited to see what your new project will be.
