Even just a short time serving aboard one of the Tau'ri's ever-growing number of vessels soon puts such sentiments into perspective. No matter how advanced, how huge and mighty they may have become, they are still little more than metal boxes flung into deep space on burning reactor flames. To keep these flames alive, to manage the myriad life-supporting systems draws the very fine line between life and death among the stars.

The supply lines ensuring the fleets are provided with fuel and spare components, basic supplies and shift rotations for their crews, form vital strands throughout the galaxy. Nodes of cargo-distribution, supply centers, and depots form the foundation of the Tau'ris advance into the unknown regions of the galaxy. For every fighting soldier and explorer out on the frontier, a thousand more serve behind the front, to provide the indispensable necessities to continue the noble mission.
