On its mission to explore and secure the lesser-known regions of Federation space, the USS Cavalieri roams the darker corners of long-established sectors. Wherever the automated probes and sensor grids of Starfleet pick up disturbances, strange phenomena, or unregistered activities, small rapid response vessels like the Cavalieri are quick to be dispatched and investigate.
For many, service aboard one such vessel represents best Starfleet has to offer. Even though they don't find themselves on the true frontier, vessels such as the USS Cavalieri often operate alone for prolonged periods of time and get chances to encounter rare events and unknown specimens. However, even service deep within the territories of the Federation entails the inherent risks of space travel. Those blank spaces on star charts, even in well-known sectors, may harbor deadly phenomena, cruel foes, and unfathomable wonders.
