Rising again from burnt and sundered Earth, the union of the defiant and free remains strong. Hellfire brought down from the stars could not break their spirit, nor move those pure of heart to abandon their fight for humanity.
Northern America, much like the Chinese mainland, was near totally eradicated during the first stages of the Confluence Invasion. Orbital destruction wiped two Terran superpowers off the face of the Earth in a matter of days, and horrid waves swept across every island in between.
An example of such magnitude was designed to break the Terran spirit, but the invaders underestimated the extent of human tenacity and the great power's preparedness for a war of total annihilation. In the boiling waves of the pacific ocean, decentralized remnants of the old world's militaries survived. Among the ashes of the burning coasts, survivors took up arms.
The fire intended to burn away all hope for humanity forged the beginnings of its fiercest resistance yet. Rather than falling divided, the scattered diaspora of the old powers rallied and weaved a web across Earth's greatest ocean.
Given the sheer extent of the initial destruction, and the unabating fighting throughout most of the long war and tyranny that followed, it took a long time for the pacific nations to rebuild and grow strong again.
Deprived of much of their homeland, and forced into total war, the nations of the Pacific Compact were reborn as societies of opportunism and virtue, ruled by conglomerates capitalizing on knowledge, resources on skill. The very same qualities that allowed the Compact to survive against all odds during the alien invasion, would also mark its rise among the powers of the Terran Mandate.
