hmmm..i done it i Maya with semi-transparant blue shader with a little bit of noise-bump on it. Easy peace

Exactly, Maya is my main 3D tool.
Personally I think that Maya has a more logical structure of the menus ect. They say that Maya should also are faster to handle larger scenes. I like it more then 3ds max, plus it won't work on mac
You can download a test version on Autodesk site and test for yourself
