Description
Although admittedly its not entirely clear he's asleep, mebbe just looking upward or something, heh.[:::Basically i was inspired by noah-kh's hornet (albeit without reference, i was just thinking about it and thought i'd like to do something similar) So i just made something that a guy could sit in. Contrary to popular belief, he's not actually riding a mechanical spider in a viking hat (although, that would be cool
In the left corner you can see a glimpse of one of the walkers many arms (i guess in a way it IS based upon a spider), and standard cannonry just above. But TBH, the focus was just on making a seat for a guy to sit in.:::]
I did originally concieve the pic to have a background, but it was getting late, and i dont really have the proper equipment to do the background i'd have lieked to have done. I'm still pleased with how it came out. Took about ... *thinks* about 3 and half hours probably possibly maybe definately.
All comments welcome and appreciated, thanks

If it wasn't for the robot, I'd say this looks VERY PSOish! And as a PSO fan, I obviously love this! The shading is once again out of this world, each detail on the robot is delicious, and the relxing expression on the kid is neat too! A little remark: it seems to me that the guy's face is a bit too chubby when compared to the rest of the body. Of course this is just my imagination picturing him looking straight foward, so it's not 100% accurate
Anyway, . This is a must, great job!

thanks! yaeh ... the face is a little chubby, it wasnt really intentional, yet, it was at the same time - i just drew it to what i thought looked good/ok, and left it that way. and i guess giving him a chubby(er) face makes him look younger?
! Thanks for another great comment, and the fave of course

Very cool.. the greyscale came out very nicely.. Yeah, his posture is a bit too far forward for him to be sleeping.. though his facial expression conveys it perfectly

Yaa but hey it's guys like that that give us interesting twists in games and the what not, if there weren't someone lazy under the helm then there would never be heroic simulated opportunity!

damn right ... i did it that way just to add the touch of humanity and realism to it. No matter how cool WE might think it would be to ride one of these things, to someone who is brought up in the world where these things come as standard, its just another day at the office for him

I know the feeling of lack of wonder when it comes to certain things, just imagine how bored I am of typing page after page on a computer, give one to a writer of the past and he'll go nuts!

+fav again. I haven't had much of a chance to follow your work so much lately, and I regret it. Make the next one a full drawing of one of these mechs (with legs!) and I might make the effort to check back more often

Very nice. I find it hard to make faces look up. You've made it easy.
Good work! I'm inspired by Noah's Hornet piece too. I do wish to do something similar in the future!

yaeh maen ... i cant wait to have another attempt with a program with layers D D. Hahah ... you mention the faces looking up. Well, i spent a lot of the day studying faces from different angles, so i guess thats part to do with it, heh
! But yeh, its definately harder than normal faces

Definatly. Exspecially trying to make them look right in Manga style. I love this kind of art, and I'm going to dedicate myself to creating some art worthy of anyone's eyes. Hehe...
Keep up your awesome work! I love inspiration!

lol Great pic,but I remember everey time i fell asleep and my head went back like that, I would wake up fast. maybe you should've had his head down instead up up and perhaps have his arms hanging out side.

lol ... well i did think about that ... but decided the face upwards adds better composition ... and if his face was down it wouldnt have had as much character. But yes, i get your point thanks

maybe it would be clearer that he's asleep if you had a little speech bubble next to his head with a "Zzz" in it.

With that last robot thing and this, I'm not so sure if you should be an actual designer for practical, usable things though. they might be a bit impractical. But I think it's amusing and imaginative

heh. Great work. Your drawings have a nice look and great detail in them. I would really like to see you bring one of these into photoshop and paint them. You got a great sence of proportions, and values. Keep up the good work.

I like it! I've actually seen that picture that you were talking about, and i can see the similar ideas... but somehow I like yours bettter. dunno why, theres just something appealing about that style of ccoloring, adn using paper that isnt white. *grin* kudos!

wow, what an honour and ps, the paper i actually drew it on is white
the gray "paper" is photoshopped in
I find it tends to look better this way for some reason *shrugs*

well, it would be cleaner if you photoshopped it in... that's actually not too bad of an idea... *may just steal a page out of your book*
