Description [::: Whatever the hell it is :::]

I dont know how to draw animals. So i'll draw them until i do.

I guess you could call it a speed paint? 90mins? I always thought of a speedpaint as being under an hour but some people think anything up to 3 hours is! Maybe it depends on the subject matter? Dunno

Reminds me of everything I love about Wayne Barlowe's work. Great color scheme and texture.

well done on the figure and textures of this creature...Adding a face of some kind and more features will definately make a fantasy animal worth wreckoning with..
Liking the theory and progress...-"t"

but the point is that it doesnt have a face ! Its meant to be the way it is because thats its design =0 You saying it needs a face and features is expressing your personal tastes for what you enjoy, which is quite different!

but thanks!

Next time im back down home, ill upload you some absolutely AWESOME anatomy images of animals. Im talking muscles, bones the lot! As a front, side and top view to see. It kind of helps having a dad whos been studying animal anatomy for years, means hes got the books that go with it. Or as your working i could just give you there names and you can buy em

lol, sounds awesome man =0 theres so much detail you could go into with animals i know ... definately summint i gotta look over!

But then even da Vinci, master of anatomy was still studying it til the day he died. So its not something i expect to master any time super soon, hehe

Sorta reminds me of a catoblepas from FF9;
I love what you did with the hooves though, makes it seem like it's some kind of earth elemental. Does it have a mouth at some place, or is it like Pyramid Head, feeding on the fears of others?

having only played a few hours of ff9 i couldnt say i think the hooves are something i picked up from a creature i designed for a game we've been working on at work - and it was indeed an earth element creature! so nice spot

Haha, I'd love to know the scale of these things though; they'd be an absolutely fantasic massive creature.

i imagine the earth would fit under one of its hooves

Man, it's in space? Epic. Maybe there could be a whole biosphere living on said creature.

You know what, I know what this is supposed to be cause I read the comment. But it looks like a machine. What I find funny is I have no clue why I would think that, I just stare at it and I can't help but see gears instead of joints.
but hey, this is early on in the process so keep at it.

i guess because with animals you expect them to have faces ... ? *shrugs*

remiparks In reply to martinhoulden [2008-02-18 20:52:04 +0000 UTC]

Well of course, but even looking past that, it just looks more mechanical than organic. Granted some pointy teeth and squinty eyes would probably do it for me in the long run... Yeah, I guess you're right.

The human body is that much like a machine, much more than you would believe.
