This is my silent tribute to not just Mandela, but to all those who lost their lives defending the rights of their fellow human beings.

It reminds me of my childhood in Ukraine (at that time it was part of Soviet Union)... In some cities there was a shortage of electricity. So they just turned off power in evenings in winter time to save... No light at all in half of the city! I always had a matches and candle in my pocket to light it in these cases... It may sound weird now but for me as a kid it was a real adventure - to spend evening with candle

Cheesy as heck, I know. 
I was bored out of my mind! We had no electricity for two days and nights straight. This was taken on the second night.
In fact, we were so cut off from the rest of the world that I found out about Mandela's passing the following morning.
You know, we've become so accustomed to having these amenities that I can't even begin to imagine the turmoil it would cause in Dubai if the whole city suddenly went dark.
