Well, that's his reasoning for kidnapping Peach. Β But he'll usually do something else as well, such as transforming the kings of various countries into animals (Super Mario Bros. 3), trapping Yoshi's friends in eggs (Super Mario World), stealing the Star Rod to make himself invincible (Paper Mario), and so forth.
In Mario's perspective, saving Peach is the extra motivation, but because Bowser usually does something that affects everyone, Mario would have to stop him regardless of whether he kidnapped Peach or not (such as inΒ Super Mario 3D World).

Bowser is still my favorite character from the Mario Bros. games, no matter what he does. He makes fire, which I like, and he's cute in a way. Everything bad he does; even when affecting everyone, is still so that he can have a complete family, anyway.
