Description
I have no talent with putting images together in Photoshop.Length: 36 1/2"
Handle: 9 1/2"
Blade: 27"
This, like my iron cross piece, is for my cosplay~, and it was the first project I started this summer. I'm rather fond of it, because I think I've put more work into this than anything else.
It's my first attempt at a sword that isn't a katana, and while the sanding takes longer (four sides instead of two) I think I like the European style a lot better.
The handle is wrapped in 100% authentic fake leather, and was probably the most painful thing I've ever done. The join at the back is a bit ragged, which is why it isn't featured here. Fortunately, when I'm holding it or wearing it in the sheath, you don't actually see it very much.
The sheath is made from a combination of cold-worked aluminum and wood (for the decorative silver bits). It took a bit of work and a few mistakes to get right - and there's still dents in it. I don't mind, though, because it adds to the weathered look I attempted with the rest of the sword.
Overall? I'm pretty darn happy with the turnout. I feel extremely awesome wielding it around the house.
I totally cannot wait to run around as Teutonic!Prussia in the near future. It's going to be so awesome~!

It's all wood except for the pleather wrapping around the grip, and the sheath, which is sheet tin.
As for the type, I can't quite remember what wood it is. It's 3/16, though, and you can usually find them in strips of 40"x5", or something at Home Depot.

It sounds silly, but you really do feel like rogue carrying one of these things around.
