Description when I said I'd update throughout the summer, apparently I lied

Sword
Overall Length: 38 1/2"
Handle (including guard and pommel: 9 1/2"
Blade: 29"

Sheath
Length: 30 3/4"
Width: 2"

Hardest Aspect
- Figuring out how to do the 3D balsa detailing on the sheath. It required some creative use of tape, clamps, woodfiller, and copious amounts of glue.
- Painting the sheath; all of the black is handpainted on, and masking off the silver took quite a bit of time, and I still had to spend a good hour and a half doing touchups

------

It's Twinkledeath! Named so because while I started out trying to faithfully recreate one of the swords from the Legend of Drizzt series, somewhere along the lines it mutated into some weird hybrid of the two.

So, this was my carryover project from last year. It didn't turn out as awesome as I thought it would, at least in terms of the overall sword. I'll put up measurements later, if I remember.

It was meant to be a gift, but... well, the intended recipient and I are no longer on friendly or speaking terms, so I'm stuck with it. Because of the events that caused that nasty rift, I lost a lot of my passion for making this. I only finished it because I felt obligated to; I'd hate to leave a half-finished sword kicking around.

The sheath is the thing I'm most proud of - it's the first time I've done one entirely out of wood. The main shape is strip popular sandwiched together (rather like how I made the hidden blade compartment for the Rod). The raised detail is mostly balsa wood, with wood-filler to sculpt the arrows.

There's foam inside to prevent the wood from scraping up the sword, and it sits fairly firmly in there. It won't come out if you shake it upside down.

The handle is wrapped with leather. The gems I found at a local craft store. The drow script on the blade is hand painted on, and unfortunately I have no idea what it says.

Overall, it isn't my best work. I know I could have done better, but I just wanted to get past it and everything that it reminded me of.

You lost your passion for this?
DIDN'T TURN OUT AS AWESOME AS YOU THOUGHT! MY GOD WHAT WAS THE ONE IN YOUR HEAD LIKE? WAS IT MADE OF ELF STEEL AND GLOWED WHEN ORCS WERE AROUND? DID IT SHOOT FIRE AND LIGHTNING? DID IT COME WITH A DARK ELF?

If I did something this good for someone and broke up with them, getting to keep this would be almost be worth it.

OK fellow Canadians. I want someone in Ontario to go over and clobber her. Be careful! If she fights with the same skill that she made this, she is going to be very very dangerous

This is totally cool. Love the Drizzt books by Salvatore, it's great to see things inspired by them Such a shame your enjoyment of the piece went though

Thank you very much!
Yeah, I was disappointed about that too, but that's how it goes, I guess. ^^
