Description

The Stable and Broken Loop time travel system is an answer the time travel paradoxes issue that expands on the David Deutsch Quantum Super Position Parallel universe “Split Timelines” and ties it into Igor Novikov’s self-consistency “Closed Loop” while maintaining non-determinism.

The issue being that, depending on how the time travel effects the effected the new version of the Time Traveler, the new version of them may end up making different choices.  This could mean they either don’t/can’t take part in that time travel event resulting in a broken loop, or they do repeat the trip but may end up making different choices.  In the case that they repeat the trip, they will either cause a diverging cascade of changes eventually resulting in a broken loop, or their decisions will eventually converge into a stable loop.  Once formed, a stable loop is indistinguishable from a Closed Loop.

Back to the Future 1 is an example of a Stable Loop as Iteration 1(?) Marty is seen redoing the time travel trip.  It is assumed he is similar enough to Marty Prime(?) that he repeats everything he does despite growing up under different circumstances.

Back to the Future 2 is a mess and regularly breaks its own rules (still a great movie)

Back to the Future 3 is an example of a Broken Loop since Doc Brown’s Gravestone no longer exists to cause Marty to go into the past rather than return home. (This should result in two of him)

Terminator 1 appears to be operating on a Broken Loop.

Terminator 2 suggests Terminator 1 is actually a Closed Loop, but then goes on to supposedly undo that Closed Loop making it a Broken Loop again

Terminator 3 suggests Termiantor 1 and 2 are Closed Loops and always were.

Terminator Salvation doesn't have time travel

Terminator Genisys is full Broken Loop annihilating all previous terminator movies due to time travel to before Terminator 1.

Terminator: Dark Fate is.... ????

Ok here's how I'd put them together

Prime Loop: No Time travel   -> John Conner (v0) is born after Judgment Day, He then sends Kyle Reese (v0) back in Time
Iteration 1: Terminator 1 -> John Conner (v1) is born before Judgment day, the then sends Kyle Reese (v1) back in Time, and a T-800.
Iteration 2: Terminator 1 -> Terminator 2 -> John Conner (v2) is born before Judgment day, sends Kyle Reese (v2) back in Time, then a T-800, then a T-800 again.
Iteration 3: Terminator 1 -> Terminator 2 ->Terminator 3 -> Terminator Salvation -> John Conner(v3) is born before Judgment Day then sends Kyle Reese (v3) back in time, then a T-800, then a T-800 again, But fails to Stop Carl.
Iteration 4: Terminator 1 -> Terminator 2 -> Terminator Dark Fate(ish) -> Dani Ramos(v0) sends Kyle Reese (v4) back in time, then a T-800 (manipulated memory), then a T-800 (Manipulated Memory) again, Fails to Stop Carl, sends Grace back in time.
Iteration 5: Terminator 1 -> Terminator 2 -> Terminator Dark Fate -> Dani Ramos(v1) sends Kyle Reese (v5) back in time, then a T-800 (manipulated memory), then a T-800 (Manipulated Memory) again, Fails to Stop Carl, sends Grace back in time, then sends a T-800 EVEN FARTHER BACK
Iteration 6: Terminator Genisys(Ish) -> John Conner(v4) Sends Kyle Reese (v6)
Iteration 7: Terminator Genisys(IshIsh) -> John Conner(v5) Sends Kyle Reese (v7) then sends his nano-infected self back in time.
Iteration 8: Terminator Genisys (Broken Loop)

John Conner (v1) - Michael Edwards
John Conner (v2) - Edward Furlong
John Conner (v3) - Nick Stahi and Christian Bale
John Conner (v5) - Jason Clarke

Kyle Reese (v0) - Michael Biehn
Kyle Reese (v1) - Michael Biehn
Kyle Reese (v3) - Anton Yelchin
Kyle Reese (v4) - Michael Biehn
Kyle Reese (v7) - Jai Courtney and Bryant Prince (their memory connection is strange)
