What if the Guardians of the Galaxy are in Thor: Ragnarok
(Peter Quill, Thor, Groot, Rocket, and Valkyrie protect Gamora from Thanos as Surtur emerges to save the day which allows Thor, Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Bruce Banner/ Hulk, and Valkyrie to escape)

Groot realizes that when Asgard is destroyed by Surtur, it would mean that leaving an Infinity Stone floating in the vacuum of space and eventually falling into the wrong hands. And so while Thanos and Hela are distracted fighting each other, Groot robs Thanos of the Infinity Gauntlet and uses it to lock him and Hela into a paralysis even though he knows that it won’t last long.
Thanos sees Gamora and wants to get information on the whereabouts of the Soul Stone.

THANOS: We have much to discuss, daughter.

PETER QUILL (knowing Thanos is wanting to extract information on the whereabouts of the Soul Stone from Gamora and addressing himself, Thor, Rocket, and Groot): Not if we have anything to say about it.

HELA (to Thanos): Whatever game you’re playing, it won’t work.

Thanos is blood frozen not just at seeing Peter Quill who he recognizes as Gamora’s boyfriend, but also at seeing that the Infinity Gauntlet he was wearing has been ripped from his grasp and the presence of the weapons he fears which is Thor’s axe “Stormbreaker” and Gamora’s sword “godslayer”.

LOKI (to Surtur inside Odin’s Vault after he puts Surtur’s crown into the Eternal Flame): With the Eternal Flame, you are reborn.

GAMORA (to Thanos as she is standing her ground): Did you really think that I would never know that you were coming here?

ROCKET (to Thanos): So, let’s make something clear. (Pointing to Gamora) This one is here is under our protection.

PETER QUILL: You want to get to her…

GROOT: I am Groot! (Translated: “You go through us!”).

ROCKET: Or, more accurately, we go through you!

THOR (to Thanos and Hela as he points to the bursting and burning Asgardian palace behind him and Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot): And if not, you go through him.

Exploding through the roof of the palace is Surtur who is slowly but steadily growing in size along with his flaming Twilight Sword. Hela and Thanos’ eyes go wide in horror. They weren’t expecting this.

HELA: No...NO!

THANOS: That’s impossible.

Using this distraction to her advantage, Valkyrie attacks Hela by driving her sword Dragonfang through Hela's chest, effectively pinning her to the bridge while Rocket fires his electrocution rifle at Thanos which allows enough time for Thor to use Stormbreaker and his lightning powers to destroy a portion of the Bifrost Bridge that Thanos and Hela are standing on and sends them into the water below.

At the same time, Yondu Udonta, Kraglin Obfonter, Nebula, Drax, Mantis, and Loki bring the Benatar next to Thor, Peter Quill, Rocket, Gamora, Groot, Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Valkyrie which allows them to get onboard and they fly into the bay of the Statesman.

SURTUR (increasing in size and now towering over the palace): Tremble before me Asgard, for I am your reckoning!

Surtur swings his sword, destroying an entire city block as Heimdall, Valkyrie, Bruce Banner/Hulk, Loki, Thor, Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Nebula, Drax, Mantis, Yondu Udonta, Kraglin Obfonter, Korg, Miek, Skurge, the Asgardian citizens, and the Sakaarian Rebels watch on in horror in the Statesman flying away into space as Surtur is setting Asgard up in flames all around him and doing his rampage.
