What if Peter Quill/Star-Lord survives the Snap in Avengers: Infinity War/ Avengers: Endgame
(Peter Quill and Gamora spend time together in New Asgard while Peter Quill is having to tell Gamora the truth about what happened)

GAMORA (Deciding that the hut is not the best place for her and Peter Quill to have some time together alone with each other): Let’s go take a walk.

Drax, Mantis, and Groot encourage Peter Quill to do so and he agrees. A few minutes later, Peter Quill and Gamora are on a cliff overlooking New Asgard.

GAMORA (being really serious but gentle): Peter, is there something you want to tell me?

PETER QUILL (confused): What do you mean?

GAMORA: I’m talking about what’s been going on with you lately. I could see that you have gotten really fat and your face has changed up a bit. Quill, have you been getting drunk again?

PETER QUILL (realizing he cannot hide the truth from Gamora): Yes. I have been getting drunk again. I’ve not been feeling very well, emotionally speaking. While me getting drunk is not new to you, Gamora, but I had fallen into a deep state of depression after when I learned what Thanos did to you. Because when that happened, it made me so angry that I let it out on Thanos. But then not long after the Snap happened and Thanos used the Stones to destroy the Stones, I was really sad and I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to see you again. I mean, Gamora, I love you more than anything, and Thanos tried to take you away from me. And so, I came to decide that spending my time drinking and getting drunk would help me to deal with my emotional problems.

Gamora is taken aback at what Peter Quill just explained. She is not angry at Peter Quill, but she is not very happy that Peter Quill chose to do what he was doing to himself, and she could see how the drinking was really affecting Peter Quill. So, to make him feel better, Gamora closes the distance between herself and Peter Quill and pulls him into a very tight hug as Peter Quill cries into Gamora’s shoulder just like before and buries his head in it just like before.

GAMORA (comforting Peter Quill): It’s okay, Quill. I’m here now. That’s all that matters now. And we’re finally together again.

PETER QUILL (while still crying): I love you so much, Gamora.

GAMORA: I love you too, Quill.

PETER QUILL (while his eyes are still red from the tears after when he and Gamora break apart after a few minutes of hugging): By the way, I’m just curious. How is it possible that you’ve been able to come out alive and well? I mean, you were sacrificed for the Soul Stone.

GAMORA (answering with a question): Well, have you ever heard of the Time Variance Authority?

PETER QUILL: Only through research.

GAMORA: Well, for some reason, the Time Variance Authority removed me from Soul World which is the pocket dimension of the Soul Stone and said that it was to prevent Thanos from creating a branch in time when he snapped his fingers and because they knew that when the seeker of the Soul Stone is required to sacrifice the soul of a loved one to obtain the Soul Stone, it has to be out of love. And apparently, Thanos didn’t do it out of love when he said that he could not deny his destiny again even for me.

Peter Quill is very happy to have Gamora back while he is also very astonished at the truth behind Thanos sacrificing Gamora for the Soul Stone.

PETER QUILL: Gamora, there’s much more you need to know. (As Gamora listens) 5 years ago, our greatest fear came to fruition. Thanos did exactly what we both knew he said he was gonna do. He wiped out fifty percent of all life.

GAMORA (having just come up with an idea): While I was being revived by the Time Variance Authority, they said something about going through different points in time.

PETER QUILL (with sudden realization): Of course. Going through different points in time will allow us to retrieve the Infinity Stones and bring them back to the Present so we can use them to bring back the fifty percent that Thanos wiped out.

GAMORA (still not having kept her eyes off of Peter Quill’s belly fatness): But first things first, Quill, we need to get you back into shape. If we’re going to go through different points in time, I cannot let you continue on being very drunk and fat.

PETER QUILL (agreeing): I don’t see why not. I trust your judgment, Gamora.
