GAMORA (deciding that the “Boot of Jemiah” is not the best place to have time alone with Peter Quill) (to Peter Quill): Let’s go take a walk.

(Peter Quill agrees without hesitation, and Peter Quill and Gamora go outside of the “Boot of Jemiah” at a safe distance)

GAMORA: Peter, how is it possible that you did not cope well with what happened when I found you in there getting really drunk and fat?

(Gamora already knows why, but she just wants to hear it from Peter Quill and have a full confirmation)

PETER QUILL: Nothing major.

(Peter Quill says that with his head lowered, because he feels that he cannot bring himself to face the woman he loves as he doesn’t know how Gamora will react when he has to tell her the truth, but Gamora (who is able to tell when something is wrong with Peter Quill even when others are not able to) lifts Peter Quill up by his chin and forces him to make eye contact with her)

GAMORA (in a firm but gentle and affectionate tone): Peter, I’ve known you long enough to know when you are lying and when you are not, and right now, you are not telling me the truth. Tell why you’ve been getting really drunk and fat and growing your beard and hair out. I’m very concerned for your wellbeing Does it have to do with what happened to me? You can be open with me and I encourage you to be open with me about your feelings and experiences and everything else you’ve been going through.

PETER QUILL (starting to having tears in his eyes and realizing that he cannot hide the truth from the woman he loves and seeing how she is really looking out for him): It’s true that it has to do with what happened to you. I’ve been getting really drunk and fat and growing my beard and hair out, because I’ve felt that it would be the best way for me to cope with the pain from your death. When I learned what Thanos did to you to get the Soul Stone, it made me so angry that I lashed out on him. And then after when the Snap happened, I have been in a deep state of sadness and I felt that I can never get over what I did that made the Snap possible nor live without you. That is why I came to decide that resorting to getting very drunk and fat and growing my beard and hair out would help me deal with the pain from your death. I love you more than anything, and I felt that it wasn’t right nor fair that Thanos tried to take you away from me.
