PART 2 - PART 4 -

I watched from afar...as the city was devoured by the ravages of time. Dragged without pity into the Dark Aether where I reside. It was almost beautiful, in a way. An entire city, an entire community of people, lost to reality. Rendered nothing at the behest of some higher entity. Oh, the wonderful new additions to my family, I could procure. I sent my Acolyte into the city before it was fully enveloped in entropy, as a sort of...preview, of the additions I may have. She found but one, however. She was alive, just, sprawled out amongst the plaza floor. As if she had...accepted her fate.

My Acolyte dragged her back to my own...housing, within the Dark Aether. In life, it was a shopping centre, on the coast of Soleanna. Now, it was a dim, destroyed hovel long since abandoned. A perfect place to sit by the fire and...ruminate. The Inkling was spread out on the ground, mattress placed below her. She looked...awfully familiar. One of my family members, Meggy, she had vented to me once about her. Her name was...well, no-one knew. They only knew her as Leader of the Killer Inks. A wretched team, for sure. A band of four awful people, out for themselves. They had split...badly, after losing the trophy they wanted for so long. Kicked Leader senseless and left her to die. And now, she was before me. Slowly awakening.

As she came to, I instructed my Acolyte to return to the city, pick up some...materials, needed for later. Her questions came thick and fast. Where was she? Was she dead? What of her world? I explained it all; she was in the Dark Aether, where reality went to lie when it was ripped away by wretched gods. Torn apart and set aside by those who refused to fix their mistakes and would rather pave over them. She looked despondent. Mentioned all that had gone wrong for her, in the past three hours. And as she talked, as her eyes slowly blackened to signify the transformation...I knew. I too knew what it felt like to be rendered nothing by the uncaring who you thought were so meaningless. To be thrown into the void to save your creator's skin. To be denied what you sought after for so long.

And I knew, she was to be a member of my family.
