Description I was actually of two mind about submitting this to public viewing for well over a year now. I never relaly felt that the peice was tottally finished. However, since i havn't touched it in as long, and have no incling to change or modify any portion of it I think that I am going to finally call it done. Perhapse some helpful; suggestion or two will bring it back to the drawing board. who knows.

This is my shaman; I see him there in in forwest, inside and beside me. He talks to me when I see past the here and now; Wearing the eagles mask he see far from the tree top he climbed up with bears' claws, and tells the stories of the secret of mother earth from far and wide, the sacred smoke bends to his will as the grass bends in the wind.

I would say out of all northwest coast pictures in your gallery this is by far your best work. you did a really good job on the prespective.

but I do think you should make the nails/fingers a larger and thicker outline so they are more in place with the rest of the picture and you are also missing a U shape in one of the hands. i dont think you should quit on this one just yet.

thanks very much; I'm honoured to hear such a comment from you. This peice really took over for tiself once it had started and I havn't captured that moment again since. I think that might be why I'm hesitant to "finish" the peice.

I think I need to transfer the peice to a larger peice of paper, the finger nails always bothered me, but I could never figure out how to remedy them. Thank you for pointing out the U , I hadn't noticed that!

I like this. It not only captures the look and feel of Haida art, but it also captures a lot of the elements present in the art.

I don't feel that this piece needs anything added or subtracted. It's pretty well balanced and with multiple focal points. The red in the tail feathers gives the shaman a light floating-on-the-breeze feel, but on the same token, the blacks in the eagle mask (and possibly the cant to his neck) give a top heavy feel. Knowledge is weight, and a shamen should have plenty of knowledge. Kudos.

thanks very much. I like the way that you see things, its always great to see things through someone elses eyes. I really dont think that this peice will ever be finished. Especially now as it has fallen between the head board and the wall and is unreachable!
