Ha ha, yes, I went in and changed the LEDs. You're not the first person to have asked that, though; everyone seems to have forgotten that only the consoles get red rings, not the controllers, lol. But yeah, I changed the actual lights and picked red to match the color scheme.

Heh, I've never gotten the red ring of death, so I always assumed the controller would show it too. I didn't know you could change the LED's though, that's so cool! I think it works really well.

Yep! I customized the whole thing myself. It was originally a plain white controller with regular buttons and green lights, like any you'd buy at a store. I like it better now, though.

Is it difficult to put the led light on the circuit board? I've sen enough videos on youtube, but I'm not sure of my own skill level to do it. I was planning on installing blue ones at some point to my main controller and then also in the console itself.

Do you have a lot of experience soldering? If so, it's just going to take a lot of patience (and quite a few extra LEDs, those suckers are small!) But for a novice, to be hoenst, I think it's too difficult. You're better off paying ten or fifteen bucks (that's why I charge, anyway) and getting it done by someone who has done it before. The chances of irreparably damaging your controller are too high. I actually spoke to a few guys at the convention where I showed this one and they said that they had tried and ended up ruining their controllers, so you really need to weigh the risks.

I have worked on my PS2 controller and a $3. I put a blue led in each one and they both looked awesome. I even pulled my girlfriend's mouse apart and it already had a 3mm blue led for the scroll wheel, but replaced the red one for the sensor to blue. She loved it. I'll probably leave it until I get enough money to have someone else do it. I don't trust myself yet with that stuff.

I think that's probably the smart call, just because the controllers are so darn expensive, and the little SMD LEDs are so freakin' tiny. Still, it's definitely worth getting done at some point. The lights really stand out in a crowd, plus the replacement ones tends to be brighter than the stock ones.

Yea. For now, I'll leave it how it is. I'm not sure if I have any picture up at all of my main controller, but I'll be changing the guide & abxy buttons to pure black.
