Thanks for the nice comments, all. It IS real, in the sense that I started with an actual photo of the satdish. What makes this cool is that I applied some techniques that I previously used to clean up and integrate greenscreen footage for commercials, but let the technique express visually rather than being invisible the way it usually is. IE edge detection, level compressing edgelines, posterising blurred source images and then compositing them back in etc. Essentially trying to distill the image down to it's guts.
The next thing is going to be to do it to an animated source.
