Description These peices began as my attempt to categorize and contain my memories. Incapsulating with bottles moments from my past. Through this I was able to capture some aspects of my life that were naturally fleeting.

I'd be interested in seeing more of your ambrotype work. After a year of shooting 4x5 I am beginning collodion, so it is interesting to see how others approach it. It's always terrific to see others who carry the traditional torch, keep up the good work!

Very interesting. I like the concept you described, the bottling of memories. i think that the piece has a very good mood to it, and the texture here is very nice.

That is such an incredible picture! I love old, worn things and small bottles. This is the best of both worlds combined perfectly.

291 as well.
really terrific.
i have even more admiration for this piece from
the process you made it. you can't beat old school.
the fact that you did it in traditional manner adds more
meaning to what you were conveying.
amazing work!

Hey - I've found you on the =291 gallery-page.

This is truly awesome. I love the old, dusty, dark and dirty look of it. The composition is simple - and stunning! I love it

How did you do it?

This is quite excellent, the most rough gritty yet sublimely intriguing and almost mysterious photo I have seen in a long time. It seems as if floating in the bottle is some essence of a former life or a thought bottled up to be released later.
I would be very interested to know how you got this effect.

Thanks for looking at the work, for the most part the b&w bottle photos are shot in the "wet collodian" process. It’s the second photo process to be invented around the 1850’s. It involves sensitizing glass with collodian and silver nitrate and developing on the spot. I love it because as you can see the gritty look to the photos is more organic then say if I was using PS or scratching the neg.

The color photos are shot traditionally on 4x5 film and scanned. While the "sepia" tones images are shot on Polaroid type 55 b&w film, then printed traditionally on a color enlarger.

Thank you for your interest, if you have any more questions feel free to contact me.
