Description
Subject designation: Geosternbergia"A species of large pterosaur from late-cretaceous North America, and one of the largest pterosaurs in the park. It is assumed that these creatures lived near shorelines, so multiple species of seabirds were used for their reconstruction, namely the Blue-Footed Booby and the Great Frigatebird. They nest near the shorelines of the island where they either fish near the shore, waiting above shallow water to strike at fish below, or they hunt on the open ocean, catching fish either from just below the surface or mid-air in case they jump out (they don't dive for fish as their pseudo-feathers get damp and make flight more difficult). They especially like following large marine reptiles around as they stur large schools of fish to the surface. Their mating displays are useless for that purpose due to their asexual reproduction, but are still used for communication and intimidation. Sometimes they will even perform mating displays in front of others for no apparent reason, likely due to leftover genetic material. Research into that is still ongoing. Guests are recommended to stay at a safe distance from the nesting sites and to make sure they carry nothing that smells of fish when visiting the Geosternbergia"
