Description
Terragen 17 - Wish upon a Starless NightRender - Terragen
Planet - PSP6 + Flaming Pear LunarCell Plugin (I added textures and shadows as fit)
Comet - PSP6 tube with small tweaks
Okay, while I am learning more and more about the texturing in Terragen I obviously still don't have it down (hence the version 1). I also tried to give it a sense completely alien to Earth SO DONT SAY IT DOESNT LOOK REAL!!!!!! I want it to look tripped out and unnatural. I am very pleased with the water especially in this one.
The moss texture is all goofed up...way too thick and doesnt show the land enough. The far hill needs reworked as well and I need some more texture up in the high places. I like the planet though...gives it a nice little touch. At first I was gonna entitle it "Wish Upon A Star" but I wanted the blackness so i put a single comet falling and titled it as such.
Comments? Suggestions? Everything is welcome, thanks again!

I really like the addition of the "planet" there, very surreal looking. Not sure I agree with the brightness some of the land acheives with the dark sky, but it still looks very fantasy like..very nice. I like it.

Huh, missed this well and truly, didn't see this on my list.
Mmm, I got to read a few good comments along the way down to the bottom of this - some really good advice.
I really do not have anything more to add than what is already here - the worst imho is the pixellation + texturing - I hope you have done layering in PS, this could do with a massive render (4600x2000-ish double this one) and reduce it by half, then sharpen it a little.
Very nice scene for starters

And if this wasn't just v1 I would give it a fav. Let me know if you have another version coming!!! (hopefully with a brighter more detailed comet!)

I think the comet needs a little work. Other than that:
Insanely beautiful.
No really, you aren't even being fair, it's so good.

I'm not a 3d artist and I've never used terragen, so I can't give any technical help, but the only thing I can see wrong with the picture is the hills. They look kind of pixelated or whatever, the textures are slightly off. But other than that, let me say, wow. There are better terragen artists out there with cleaner works but this, the colors and the scene just blow me away. I can't wait to see the final for this. I wish I was there Definitely have to put you on watch!

Very nice work there, friend. The hills in the background are a bit funny - the perspective seems a bit strange. Love that big ole planet peeping in there.

That is really great! But for further construction.. I recommend you note that there should be: a little more anti-aliasing.. some blending, and further colourizing.. but other than that.. it looks like it took hours to make..
Great Work!

OK I'm going to try this again - maybe this time it won't loose my comment...
Whoa dude! this has improved quite a bit from the first render that you showed me last night online. The planet thing turned out great, and I like the meteor too.
The colors choices, the water effects, and the rays are awesome... one of the most believable alien atmospheres that I have seen in quite a while. I like the pointiness and squareness of the terrain - very unearthly
Since this is a version one, I do have a few suggestions for ya.
There is a line in the sky just under the planet that has already been mentioned... gotta fix that. Also the planet could use some blurring on the light colored swirl thingies Seems a bit to grainy and sharp compared to the rest of it - also at that distance you may not see it so many tiny bumps anyway. But the main problem is the pixilation of the textures and water - it almost seems like the anti-alaising wasn't working properly or something. Even the terrain has some jaggies... strange... Once you get that fixed I think the planet and meteor will look like it fits in better and more natually too because the landscape will have as much smoothness and detail as they do. Finally I think you could add some more textures to all 3 land tones you have here.
Great job overall, but I think I will wait 'til version 2 to fave this, 'cause it is definitely worthy of it

I like everything but the pixelated textures. Very kickass. I'm sure that once you learn a bit more... you'll be one of those Terragen demigods that rule the landscape universe. ^__^

very sweet, I like all the action, it makes you look at the entire picture. and as for the "flaws" That is what gives it character, just look at picasso, his work was crap, but it had character, so everyone loved it. Not saying your work is crap. Your work is very awesome and I can't really tell the flaws. It looks more of a sunset image to me

good idea, but i think you fell a little short in the execution. i think you could definitely fix this just a little and make it a really nice image. it seems kind of like a bad render-- it looks pixellated. i think the texture on the mesa shore, or whatever that land by the water is called, is a bit out of place and could definitely be improved upon. i don't think the color or brightness of the texture flows with the rest of the image. the models for the mesa are too uniform and blocky-- they look unrealistic. i think the model for the white mountain is also a bit off, but it looks "alien," which makes it plausible. anyway, that's just my opinion as an uneducated viewer.

Really great idea
I love the square-ish chuncks of terrain. The sky is amazing as well!
The only thing I'd fix would be the black line under the background planet/moon (the glow just kinda cuts off) and I'd tone down the commet a little. Oh, some stars would look great too
Superb work!

very nice work
the land texture are a bit pixialted, but maybe its perhaps u didn't turn quality to highest, if u did then maybe u turned off anti-aliasing. If you did both, then maybe a PS blur would help.
the lanbd formations look funky, and so does that huge moon

in terms of the flaws u noticed i don't think any really take away from the piece, except for how geometrical the landscape is.
still its a very great piece and it great that u see flaws and are working to correct them
