Bio: Luthien was born into a high prestige horse stable on the border of Kentucky and Indiana. Her parents were well known in the dressage, racing, and jumping circles. She was raised well and lived a happy life. She was thought to be just as good as her parents, when her training began. She enjoyed herself and was the sweetest horse at the stables, earning the nickname Lady Lucy. At three years of age, she competed in her very first jumping event. She won effortlessly, as she did with the rest of the competitions she entered from then on. This earned her yet another nick name; Lucky Lucy. She out-shined her parents and was the pride and joy of her owners. Luthien had become quite proud of herself as well, still very sweet, but now more of a refined, proper lady. Well into her career, around age six, she was bred to another well known jumping stallion, and together they bore a beautiful bay colt. He was named Luthien's Pride, and he was. She adored him more than her winnings, more than her fans, and more than her job. She cherished the time they spent together, because she knew that one day he would be taken from her to pursue the career of his grandparents, just as she had. However, she couldn't have imagined how fast that time would be stolen from her.
A few days before Pride was scheduled to begin his weaning, a stranger appeared at the stables, and had a heated argument with Luthien's owner. None of the horses paid any mind to it, but their owner kept a close eye on them and added an extra lock to their stalls, as well as several security cameras inside and outside the barns. Yet again, the horses paid no mind and lived on without a worry. But not a week later, someone broke into the stables. The horses were completely taken aback and several were stolen including Pride. Luthien put up a fight to stop the intruders, and they managed to restrain her, but she was too strong for them. Just as they had loaded Pride into a trailer, Luthien came barreling out of the barn doors. Not one of the thieves stood in her way as she gathered up Pride before running straight out of the open gates. They ran as fast as they could for as long as they could, soon making their way into the Indiana hills and plains. Luthien, however, did not take into account that Pride was being weaned. Being a domesticated animal, she had no idea how to forage for food or find fresh water. Because of this, they both grew weak and thin. She knew they wouldn't last long and she began trying to find more humans. They stumbled across a small town and were captured by a veterinary clinic. However, the vet could not get Pride to eat. He was too weak and had to be put down. After realizing her foal was gone, Luthien grew angry and sad, lashing out at the vets and the volunteers.
Eventually, she was adopted out, but she was always brought back due to her uncontrollable temper. She was distraught over Pride's death, and didn't know who to blame. She was so angry at her humans for letting this happen, but also so very angry at herself for being stupid enough to think they could survive in the wild. She wouldn't let anyone ride her and if someone did manage to get on her back, she would either buck them off or lay down and roll in the dirt. At age twelve, the clinic staff thought she may never settle anywhere every again, until an older man visited. He said he'd pay handsomely for her, and no one protested. After a tiring load up into a trailer and a long road trip, Luthien was taken to a small stable in Kentucky. Little did she know, that this stable was owned by her previous owner. At the time, she didn't recognize him; he'd grown older, portlier, his hair had become whiter and he'd grown a beard. After the break-in, he relocated to a smaller property and sold some of his horses, to instead, start a rehabilitation center. He planned to re-humanize and re-train her, hoping that she might remember him and what she used to be in time.
