Description
~Jay-Ruth asked for some critiques and red-lines of her art, and this is what I chose!Let me first say that, for a mainly equine artist, you did a wonderful job at drawing a canine. c: The back, chest, stomach, hind legs, and tail are all wonderfully drawn and anatomically correct (while still maintaining your pertiful style)!
Now, the first problem I noticed was the front legs; they looked a lot like a horses, because the knee was in the middle of the leg. Don't fret, though. It's a very common mistake! I made it a lot too when I was beginning to draw dogs. In comparison to horses, dogs don't have a "knee." Horses front legs bend at the knee, but dogs front legs bend at the elbow and wrist only. I tried to convey that with the circles and titling them with what joint they represent. I hope that helps!
The second problem I noticed was the muzzle. The overall shape is well done, but the curve of the smile is too far back on the head. The corner of the mouth should always stop under the eye, or just before it, otherwise it looks a little odd. As well as the smile, the top jaw should always be straight (unless it's a German Shepherd, which have a slight bump before their nose) and flow along with the top of the head (the part above the eyes). Basically, the jaws should resemble a rectangle, but the bottom jaw is always smaller than the top jaw (which you got right!). Also, the ears are alright, but they should be more of a triangle shape. I explain it better in my tutorial here: matrixpotato.deviantart.com/ar…
I hope this helps, Jay! And I'm sorry if I was rude or anything. D:

This helps a lot just looking at this, I'm so use to equine anatomy I sometimes get stuck on it when drawing canines.
