That's made from a cast resin kit that I chopped up.Β

Not too hard, but it is durable...

Thanks, those things are a lot of work... I have to basically build a lasgun, then cut it up for a bulpup.

This one looks more like resin or plastic than the MDF you had used on other lasguns. What's the material? And do you know the full dimensions?

So, two inches shorter means it's good for close quarters work.

Yep, once I make the longer one I'll tweak this one. I may shorten the muzzle and add a tactical light. Perhaps leave off the front handgrip to slim it down.

Thanks!

This is one of those things I had to do on principal. I have a lot of orders I need to take care of but I'm getting burned out. If I don't do stuff like this every now and then I'll go crazy!

The Proplord rides again. Once more, I stand in awe; fine work man, fine work.

Regardless of being an inch or two shorter than it should be, it looks pretty damn awesome. Almost quite literally as if it had been ripped from the pages of a imperial primer.
I for one, will be interested in when you make the 'MkII' version of this little beauty (if you choose to make one at all that is ) and how the two compare.

Did some maths.... The reciever section needs another 2-1/2 inches. The mini scales out to about 18 inches. This ones 15-1/2.

It's a matter of course, I'll make one just need to find the time.

How do you get the dimensions of prop so perfect? All of them seem so authentic!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Matsucorp In reply to Rovien [2013-11-11 18:22:07 +0000 UTC]

This whole project starterd from taking a mini, laying it on a scanner and copying it. I then blew up the image to a workable size. Sometimes I go old school and make a transparency and actually project it to the size I want. It's slightly arbitrary because no one really has agreed on how big the guns should really be.Β

But since I use a shotgun grip which is a known and reproducible piece. I can then scale the gun to fit within the scale of the grip. I compromised in some places making the piece a usable size but attempting to not stray from the original design.

From the transparencies I hand draw blueprints and those become the masters from which all guns will be made.

The same thing can be done with a computer and a large format printer or a normal printer and " postering " the artwork.

I prefer hand drawing blueprints. With all the lines and dimensions in my head having already drawn them this makes actually sculpting them easier if that makes any sense.

It makes plenty of sense to me, drawing has many similarities with sculpting.

Thank you for sharing a bit of your process with me, I truly appreciate this!
