Description I made the actual circle red to make this easy on yer eyes. The 8 pointed star represents you and the circle around it is your aura/life energy.(I'm not sure if it's the other way around but both work) The giant terriblydrawn octagon harnesses your energy you you can use it. Terribly drawn pentagons transmute energies and having the points go beyond the circle allows your pulse to leave the circle. The diagonals add spin and distance to your attack. This one is made to be long range with medium power. To increase range and decrease power, increase the angle so its close to a straight line from the middle. To have a smaller range but more power make smaller angles so its closer to being tangent. Having them straight would be very long range but would probably just sting or stun your opponents, no real damage. Tangent lines should be used when someone is right next to you and will throw your enemies very far. I separated the lines from the center just a little so it isn't dangerously close to you when it forms. If tattooed onto the hand, I recommend tangent-medium diagonals for maximum damage in close range combat. To all you naruto fans, it would be like a super powerful Rasengan.

I got the idea from axelgee.deviantart.com/art/Fir...

It's not a bad idea, but I would have gone a different route. Instead of diagonal lines I would have used arrows pointing in the directions you wanted, or a swirl pattern like in azerik92.deviantart.com/art/Wi... , or curved lines maybe like in azerik92.deviantart.com/art/wo...

Also, its highly suggested that some part of the circle be on the outermost edge of the Array. Remember, the circle is the basis of the Transmutation, and represents the circulation of energy, and matter. In this case I also would have used two circles. instead of just one, and have the pentagon between the two circles. This shows that the reaction can leave the immediate area of the circle, but you have it controlled and contained by your will. Also the 8 pointed star or octagram, is more commonly used as a symbol for the concept of "creation". While you can use it to represent life energy, a more apt symbol for this would be the one shown hereΒ notshurly.deviantart.com/art/B... or a stylized swirl to represent the soul like in this pieceΒ azerik92.deviantart.com/art/So... .

Wait a minute, about the pentagon part, this is really just an energy blast and isn't controlled by your will or anything. Do you mean if I do something like this?(direction change outside the circle)

No what I mean by controlled and contained, is that you are the one creating the blast, and you choose its strength and what have you. Unless the array shows that you are the one who decides these things by containing the reaction symbolically with a second circle, the reaction is likely to simply spread out and disperse instead of form a blast like intended.

Do you know of a program with something like "Select all but ___ color"?

I'm afraid not, manual selection with a magic wand tool is what I do in Photoshop and Microsoft Picture It! Photo Premium.

Photosop yeah, but Picture It! Photo Premium is an older program thats no longer sold, so if you can find a download for it, its free.

I like lines since it takes up less space and is simpler but I'll probably add little arrow points for forward/backward directions. And I realized that the star should be 7 pointed while at summer camp. Also, do you know a symbol or group of symbols for condensing? It would be perfect for the outer edge(I'll probably put a few) and would add power to the attack.

For things like condensing, I often just use arrows that point towards the centre of the array to indicate that everything is focused there. If it needs to be condensed multiple times, then do progressive layers of arrows.

Anything else? I was hoping for something small.

Well a swirl could represent things being pulled toward the centre.

People can invent their own symbols as long as they make sense right?

As long as they make sense to you really...its a code after all,we use symbols because of a sense of vanity, and to link our work to the world in a more concrete way.
