I took this photo from this angle to hide that.
She has at least half a douzen unpainted patches on the cladding where it has simply rusted through. Most of the cab fittings are missing and what remains is similar to stuff you see in ex-Barry condition and there are huge chips all over the paint work.

Apparently she's in the same condition, or near enough the same condition as she was when she pulled Sir Winston Churchills funeral train, and for that reason alone she will never be restored, instead she'll just be polished up and kept in as good a condition as possible. Thus is the reason why she looked quite beat.

Surely it's not beyond the realms of possibilty to do a cosmetic restoration so she at least looks presentable?
She is a National Collection engine after all.
